Thank you! It’s plain Pebble-tec being distorted from the water movement.

How Clear is TFP Clear? Let's See (Pics Only Please).

Shimmery, sparkling, clear water tells me our chemistry is balanced. Any dullness, even a little, means something isn’t right.

Higher CH and TA with new chemistry

The drops did seem smaller. We discarded the old set already, so we can‘t change caps and double check that way. We’ve always tested the TA wiping between each drop.

Higher CH and TA with new chemistry

We replaced last years TF-100 chemistry with a new set this week. The CH was reading 350 last week and is 600 today. TA was 90 last week and is now 110. All other tests are within their normal ranges. Chemistry was exactly one year old, stored inside. We are surprised by the increased...

    New Polywood chairs...

I use the $20 molded color chairs from Lowe’s for the sun shelf. They are lightweight and easy to move around. It’s the blue one here:

    New Polywood chairs...

I’ve had the two multi-colors poly lumber Adirondack chairs for two years in FL. First year was outside and last year in the pool cage. The blue Polywood I got on sale last year. These are never put away but the pool cage screen decreases the UV a bit. Love them all, but appreciate the cup...

    SLAM

We ordered a new chemistry refill kit when they were on sale and have been using that. I’m leaning towards the rain and organic material washing in and overloading. Also as I’m cranking the SWG to compensate, it’s probably covering up an ongoing loss. Thanks for helping, it’s our second...

    SLAM

We did complete the last SLAM with an OCLT loss of 0. The lowest FC has been 5 since then. I’m retired and add the chlorine every 2-3 hours during a SLAM. No SLAM have ever lasted overly long since we catch them so early. I haven’t been running the descent or therapy jets every day and I...

    SLAM

SLAM time again. We were suspicious the water was slightly duller looking. We did the OCLT and we had a loss of 3.5. The CYA is 70 and our chlorine has not gotten below 6. We’ve been cranking up the SWG though, which also made us suspicious. We live in FL and had a heavy rain earlier...

    CYA of 50

Thanks for the quick answers, off to get fresh chlorine, we used the last we had yesterday. Edit: looking at the SLAM chart again for non-SWG and SWG pools, this makes total sense! Thanks again!

    CYA of 50

We need to SLAM, we allowed our FC to go too low after company was using our pool. Our OCLT showed a loss of 2 overnight this morning. CYA is currently 50, PH is 7.2. The chart shows CYA 60, not recommended, with an SWG. Should I raise the CYA before starting the SLAM?

    TA- how long to retest?

Thank you! I did the testing today and it read 70. It’s a good thing we were conservative on how much we added. I usually do the testing but DH did it this time. He tripped up on using 10 ml pool water to test and not 25 ml. I feel good that it was at 60 before we “fixed”, it has been 60...

    TA- how long to retest?

Our TA went low, to 30, usually its always been around 60 without change. We’ve gotten lax doing our winter pool maintenance. We added baking soda yesterday and testing this morning shows it at 40. We were conservative adding it. PH is currently 7.5.

Thanks! I’ve been properly humbled. ;)

    third SLAM in first season

A two day SLAM did it. By late yesterday afternoon I didn’t need to add any more chlorine and it stayed steady overnight, passing all three requirements this morning. This was my shortest SLAM yet. What have I learned from three SLAMs, all with clear looking water but perhaps not quite as...

    third SLAM in first season

I’ve been testing every day and just started with every other day this week since the rains have lessened. Two prior SLAMs left me testing every day.. Chemistry was perfect on Sunday with TFC at 10.5, we brushed and vacuumed and rinsed the filter. We put the pool cover on to see how it worked...

    third SLAM in first season

It wasn’t keeping up with rains and that was the reason for the last slam. It’s been raining, but not the water exchanging ones like before. I thought 4 min and 6 max were my targets with a CYA of 80. Should it be something else? 5 was the lowest and that was the other day, even after I...

    third SLAM in first season

Our last SLAM was 9/5. We have been fine until this week when the FC started dropping more than it should. I wanted to ignore it but instead ran a OCLT. There is a 2.0 FC loss this morning. I’ve lowered the PH to 7.2 The torrential rains have eased off and the pool has been stable until...

    Solar bubble cover

Thanks for all the input. We brought our cover out after finding a roller for it on Amazon. We deployed the cover and rolled it up a few times to see how it worked. Next year the roller will break down to store in the garage easily. Temps are in the 90’s this week so, water temp is 83 without...

    Solar bubble cover

We are heading into our first cooler weather season in SWFL. The PB gave us a thick solar bubble cover for the pool, it is iridescent blue on top and brown on the bottom and cut to fit the pool. Do we wind it up during the day so the pool gets sun or leave it on all the time unless we use it...

    First Pool Season Lessons

We are nearing the end of our first swimming season. We will transition into covering the pool at night soon and then turning off the SWG and going to chlorine when the temps get too low. We live in SWFL, so the pool won’t be closed. I’ve learned a lot from two SLAMs this first season. The...
