    Is this black algae?

Thank you. SLAM commencing again. How does this play out actually? There's enough chlorine to to kill the algae, but not enough to prevent it 100%? I imagine the dead algae will need to be vacuumed up? Or will activity in the pool combine it with the water and help the filter take care of it?

    Is this black algae?

Another AGP with what appears to be algae(dust) at bottom of pool: Intex 12x24x52 Saltwater and sand filter system. System runs about 8hrs per day to maintain levels. CYA:70 PH:7.6 FC: 7 Clouds away when disturbed. I can vacuum it up, but it will eventually return. SLAMmed a couple of times...

    Replacing pump for 12x24x52

That appears to be just the pump and and sand filter. The pump controls the saltwater components, so I don't see how that will work with any of my existing components or provide the saltwater capabilities I currently have. Am I missing something?

    Replacing pump for 12x24x52

Hey everyone, I am bringing my 2018 Intex 12x24x52 back in service this year and the pump does not sound happy at all. I have tried in vain to find the replacement pump (SKU 12527EG 1600gph sand/saltwater) with no luck. I guess my current options are (from cheapest to most expensive): Take...

SLAM level for small amount of algae

I believe the recurring algae is due to the constant flow of debris from the trees above the pool, which not only drop leaves, but this fine dust and small particulate. It's a constant battle to be honest, but they are city trees and I have little recourse. Since the algae always begins to...

SLAM level for small amount of algae

Due to the recent warm weather in the Bay Area, California, my AGP has been maintaining a nice temperature of about 86-90 degrees. I do have a little battle with nearby tree debris but nothing I don't keep at bay with regular skimming and vacuuming. Every few weeks though I do notice a very...

    Degree of error during SLAM

I'm currently in the middle of a SLAM on my Intex 8500 Gallon saltwater AGP. Since my CYA is at 70-75, I have been testing the FC at 30 right after sunset. This requires 60 drops of R-0871 reagent in 10ml of water. I ran two tests this morning before sunrise. The first measured 27 FC and the...

City Trees, the bane of me and my pool!!!

<rant> Anyone else have problems with city trees interrupting what would be an otherwise straightforward pool maintenance schedule? We have a row of trees behind our pool that is a constant supply of leaves, debris, dust, and other nuisances in regards to our pool. It seems these particular...

Best method for warming pool water with solar cover

Well, I can say from my experience that when I have the cover on in the sun, the upper 12" of water under the solar cover can be as much as 5-8 degrees warmer than the bottom, which prompted me to try and start circulating the water to the bottom. Not really sure if it's having a real effect or...

Best method for warming pool water with solar cover

Hey all, I have an Intex 12' x 24' AGP here in the Bay area, California. Temperatures are now tickling the 80's, and I've been itching to get into it, but with a ~70-72deg water temperature, not sure if that's tolerable enough to wade/swim in. I do have a blue-bubble solar cover on it 24x7. I...

Opening - Lots of debris in suspension

Sorry in advance for the long read: Thanks to this forum, and the recommended TF-100, my first year of pool ownership last year was a great success. Got to enjoy my pool without any issues. Now we purchased our AGP to see if it would be used enough to justify having an IGP put in a couple of...

Ph Strip vs drop test, severe discrepancy (pic)

Took a Ph test of my pool with both the strip and drop test and they seem to be very different. I imagine the drop test is more accurate, but why the discrepancy? If I'm matching the color right on the drop test, it looks closest to 7.5. How would you interpret the color? Also took the FC test...

What is this port on the intex supply plunger?

That rubber plug I got from Ace hardware pretty much stopped the water flow.

What is this port on the intex supply plunger?

Filling my pool and getting near the top when water starts dribbling out of this port on my supply plunger. There wasn't anything there and I don't have any spare parts that fit. Any idea what was there, and even better, what size it is? I put a rubber plug in to stop the flow in the meantime.

Need help with Intex / Hayward Skimmer / PVC plumbing adaptors.

Yes, that's pretty much the exact setup I am looking for. Thank you very much for taking the time out to describe it in such detail. Unfortunately, I don't have the large feed through holes on my 12x24x52 that you do. Just the black inserts that the are shown in my photo. If I'm reading your...

Need help with Intex / Hayward Skimmer / PVC plumbing adaptors.

So I have an intex 12x24x52 going up this weekend and I would like to make the following modifications to the plumbing (see pics for stock plumbing): I'd like to replace the existing 'T' that goes to the pump with a 'T' that goes to my hayward skimmer and to one of the existing inlets (Both...
