Long time, no post… help needed!

Thanks. Yes, I’m not sure a SLAM will be needed either. No problem if it is though. I am interested in the filter fibre, especially to clear the last bit. Backwashing quickly and more often shouldn’t be a problem now. Will look into it. I’ve heard the pros and cons before but never used it.

Long time, no post… help needed!

I looked at the quickdams and they look good but didn’t have time for postage. I’ve just dug back all the river rock and put in a solid garden edge between the pavers and drain. Hoping it does enough to redirect any excess water with this next inundation. On a positive note, the pool is looking...

Yep, been doing that plus added salt yesterday. FC is sitting at 6 with CC currently 0. FC hasn’t dropped below 3.5, which was the first test straight after the event. Still expecting to SLAM after I do an OCLT on Friday night.

Sorry you’re dealing with this crazy weather too. Glad to hear your pool is looking much better. I haven’t slammed yet as still getting everything balanced and clean before doing an OCLT… plus I’m working so don’t have time to SLAM. Maybe on the weekend. Will definitely do as you suggest and try...

Absolutely! We are very thankful. I think I’m just suffering from pool build ptsd, which anyone who was around at the time might recall the nightmare that was.

Thanks. I’ll stop panicking I think. It’s just a shock to see.

Long time, no post… help needed!

Looking better. Hubby has just gone out to get pool supplies. I think running the robot early morning with the pump off help a lot. Frustratingly, it doesn’t seem to be picking much up so probably going to be a long process even after I get the water balanced. No idea how much dirt is on the...

Thanks. Sorry you’ve been dealing with similar. Robot is on its 3rd run and not doing much but likely because I have the filter running. First run was with extra fine cartridge. Second, regular, which collected almost nothing. It’s in again with the extra fine. Will try again in the morning...

Thinking I won’t add any cya yet and just keep an eye on the FC. It’s not sunny and I’d prefer to use less LC for a SLAM.

Long time, no post… help needed!

Thanks so much! I was wondering if it was alright to put the robot in. Will put him to work and try to balance the water the best I can with what I have. I don’t have salt (maybe one bag) but can use LC. Have calcium, alkalinity, cya.

Long time, no post… help needed!

Thanks Charlie. Our rain is over where we are. Maybe 10-20mm a day for the next few days. I was almost hoping if I vacuumed to waste (something I’ve never needed to do so need to YouTube) that more rain would refill.

Thanks. Seems to be filtering alright for now. If I backwash, I won’t be able to refill.

Long time, no post… help needed!

Just completed a full CCL panel. Sorry, I don’t remember if I’m listing these in the correct order. FC - 3.5 CC - 0.5 (or 0) TA - 20 (high sensitivity test) PH - 6.8 CH - 225 CYA - <30 Salt - 800 Thanks for the responses so far.

Thanks so much. I’ll have a read. I’ve had the filter going and upped the chlorine but I’ve just got a low salt reading. Have liquid chlorine I can add. Concerned I really need to backwash put won’t be able to refill.

Long time, no post… help needed!

We are in Brisbane, Australia and have just endured the most devastating, unprecedented flooding. Fortunately our house is alright, with the exception of a small leak in the roof. The drainage around our pool is excellent, however yesterday it was unable to cope with the sheer volume of water...

    My COVID Story

Thanks for sharing. I’m glad you are all alright and had mild cases. Even better that your mil didn’t contract it. We are in Australia and thankfully have done very well so far. We have restrictions in place and masks when needed. My neighbour caught covid in March on a trip to Europe and was...

Crazily high salt level - freaking out

Hi, also from Australia. Our pb left us with a salt reading of about the same at handover. I called Astral (our chlorinator manufacturer) and they said over 8000 and they would be a little concerned. I didn’t need to add salt for almost two years lol.

New F/Glass build DownUnder - Adelaide - What have I let myself in for?... :)

That is crazy hot! Glad you got to enjoy the pool though. The glass fencing looks amazing! Somehow it makes the pool look bigger. Sprigots look great and sound like they’ll last. I was so nervous when they were core drilling our holes. Didn’t get a choice with ours and I’m not sure exactly what...

    Awkward backyard build

I like the use of the space and that it’s parallel to the house. Agree that 3’ is too shallow.

    Welcome to the new TFP!

Hi Kim! Thanks for the information. Yes I’m sure I’ll get use to it. I currently use the Pool Math trouble free pool app on my phone so hoping I can keep using that or similar. My aging eyes are struggling to read the website... which is why I used Tapatalk. Might have to invest in an iPad Pro...

New F/Glass build DownUnder - Adelaide - What have I let myself in for?... :)

Hey Costas! Just dropping by to say wow about your weather! Hottest day on record today is crazy! Hope you’ve been able to enjoy the pool. We had a 34* day today but generally it’s not getting over 30* most days. Of course I build a pool and we have the coldest winter and the coolest summer in a...

    Welcome to the new TFP!

Oh thank goodness for that! I thought the site had disappeared off the face of the earth ? Is TFP no longer offered on the Tapatalk forum? I loved using Tapatalk to access the forum. Also, what’s this about a new pool math app? Does it have a different name? I do love the new layout here. It...

    Anyone still swimming?

I know we don’t officially don’t count [emoji6] but we (read my children) were swimming all through our winter with the exception of about 3 weeks over August, when the ambient temp wasn’t very inviting.

    Pebble-Tec gone bad!!!

You can’t really judge from a night time video. Lights will show up every little imperfection. Can you take a day time photo of it? I notice you have a dark colour, and these are particularly prone to high levels of variation. For this reason we have a light coloured pebble yet still have areas...
