Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Thanks. Do you use any other products like sequestrants, algaecides etc.? Or am I good with just acid, bleach and CYA when needed?

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

A couple of random questions : 1. If you ever needed to shock the pool, wouldn't CC go above 0.5? So you should never really need to shock unless that happens? 2. Does it matter if there is some calcium scaling on the bottom of the pool (which was there before the refill)? It's hard to see...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Yes I put the return to the spa and the suction from the pool. Thank you for the tip. How long should I use the pump for the pool? It's a VS pump but I've seen some people running them for as little as a few hours a day. Is there a guide on this somewhere?

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Ok I have some updated measurements and questions : pH : 7.2 (added acid to lower TA yesterday) TA : 120ppm CH : 225-250ppm CYA : <30 (probably around 20 or 25, 10g is still dissolving in a sock in the skimmer which should take it to 30). FC : 4.25ppm 1. By using the spa return jets to make...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Thanks, 3ppm of bleach (for final volume of 23000 gallons) would be 3/4 of a bottle? So just put that in now? The pool is a few hours into filling and it'll take a couple of days i'd say.

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

The pool is now refilling. When should I add bleach and CYA etc? Should I wait for it to be totally full first?

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

OK thanks. So should I aim for a target TA of 80ppm? Should I do this by reducing pH to 7.0? Will it then slowly rise to the 7.5 pH level I'm after?

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

OK. Why did you need to lower TA after your refill? Isn't 160ppm or so a good level to begin with? Would you recmmend me getting it to 80ppm as well? Should I do this after I get the other levels stable first? Thanks The SWCG sounds good, I'll have to look into it eventually. Is it possible to...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Ok thanks. I'm planning on getting the pool to the following measurements FC : 4ppm pH : 7.5 TA : 160ppm (as is) CH : 250ppm (as is) CYA : 30ppm Questions 1. Do those amounts sound about right? It really only needs a jug of bleach and around half a jug of muriatic acid for a 22500 gallon...

Can I pressure wash my empty pool with a house and siding cleaner?

Thank for the tip. My pressure washer has a pretty low pressure nozzle attachment. So I'll try that. Mainly just wanting to use it on the tile as the plaster looks fine.

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Tested the source water this morning (Summerlin, Las Vegas). Taylor K-2006C Test Kit FC : 0.6ppm pH : 8.0 (kit only goes to 8.0, might have been 8.2?) TA : 160 ppm CH : 250 ppm Thanks for teaching me about Calcium and it's relation to CH :)

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

See this report - 2017 for big bend. They came up with 77ppm calcium. Big Bend 2017 Water Quality Summary I'll test the water tomorrow from the faucet and see what I get.

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Haha it must suck to work on. I can choose to use that or the side returns on the pool. I vacuum by hand currently :(( lol Thanks, that worked. Pool is currently draining. I read that Vegas water has 70ppm Calcium in it. So if my pool has 70ppm after the refill. Do I need to raise CH to...

Can I pressure wash my empty pool with a house and siding cleaner?

Hi all. Inherited a pool that I'm emptying and refilling due to high CYA and calcium levels. The pool overall is in good condition and doesn't need any sort of acid etching that will reduce the life of the plaster. I plan on jumping in there with my pressure washer to remove dirt etc. and a...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Thank you for your reply again. This is the picture of the suspected auto fill line a little closer https://imgur.com/a/elT6f Isn't the big black taped pipe thing the autofill line? so would that valve need to be vertical since it must be on already? Sorry for the questions I really have no...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Ok. Thank you. I have some more generic questions now about the system I inherited. 1. How do I turn off the water to the pool? It has an autofill but how do I actually stop water going to the pool? I've attached a picture of the closest tap and it's set-up (not sure if it's for sprinklers or...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Sounds good. With adding muriatic acid, bleach and CYA. What are the correct steps to do this? I can put CYA in a sock in front of a hose when I'm refilling (or in front of a return after refilling). After adding bleach as the next chemical, how long do I need to wait before adding the...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

If it takes too long to drain (say 24 hours for half the pool to be empty), would you recommend refilling after halfway and then repeating the process? Or it doesn't really matter if it took a couple of days if it's mild weather and i wet down the plaster? Thanks

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

It will take me roughly 24 hours to drain the pool at the recommended speed into the sewer. Are there any issues with that length of time to drain the pool? Not sure if it needs to be completed within a certain timeframe.

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

I've decided to drain the pool using a sump rented from home depot. Las Vegas water recommends 12 gallons per minute into the sewer line but these pumps are about 50 gallons per minute from what I've read. Are they normally adjustable in speed? What chemicals will I need on hand that I should...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Thanks again. More questions : 1 : If my CYA level is above 120 or so (after performing a dilute CYA test) those charts you referenced have no corresponding FC value. How would I find out the FC level I require if my CYA level is off those charts? 2 : Why is my CH so high? Is Nevada water...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Not an extensive buildup but you can feel a small ridge with your hand in some parts. The most calcium buildup is where the in-built spa overflows into the pool (fountain type effect). To the sides of that is noticeable calcium buildup but it's nothing too crazy. A few questions. 1 ) I don't...

Hi everyone and help please! Pool in Las Vegas. Where do I start with these results?

Hello everyone, Recently moved to Las Vegas and the house has a pool. It was previously looked after by one of those lazy pool guys for 20 minutes once a week that used the Chlorine pucks. I've decided to look after the pool myself using the TFP methods and used the recommended Taylor test kit...
