My coworker just revealed to me his method of pool care....

She said the only thing that was 'safe' was to use the shock from the store and the pucks. I tried telling her that it is basically the same thing, w/o cya and she told me I was crazy. I just laughed, b/c I know who the real crazy one is :)

My coworker just revealed to me his method of pool care....

OK, here's my funny story about the BBB method and what others think. I am part of a moms group online and one of the moms was asking for advice on her pool. So, I told her about bleach, gave her a link to this site and the pool calculator, and another mom jumped in and told me and all of the...

My pool is FINALLY CLEAR!!! I can see all the way across and it's beautiful! Thanks again for the encouragement and reminding me to be patient :D

    We're getting there...

Some more questions... pretty please? Water is looking much better, but I stumbled on a problem this morning. I was going to vacuum, actually being able to see the bottom of the pool, and must have had air in my line. Filter pressure dropped way down, stopped sucking water in and returning as...

    We're getting there...

A little while back I was reporting "Beautiful Blue water... but not clear". http://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/79543-beautiful-blue-pool-but-not-clear I have been adding DE to my filter, as per the recommendation of Great Canadian, and I am V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W-L-Y getting there, but I can...

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

I missed this yesterday... :) Yep, I've been adding DE and backwashing as needed. I'm keeping at it today and double checked my OCLT last night too, just to be sure- Passed again, so I think I'm on the right track. I need to keep reminding myself to be patient... :D

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

It has been, yes. It isn't going up as quickly, but it is going up and I am backwashing, noticing discolored water coming out. I'll keep doing what I'm doing then and give it a few days and report back. I'll hold off on the other things then, if you don't think it's necessary. Thanks again!

It is, a little. Am I being too impatient?

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

I haven't posted in a couple of days b/c it's been an incredibly busy weekend, but the pool is still not clear, even after using DE in the filter. I passed the OCLT test for two nights, except for the clear water. I have done some more reading around on the forum here, and came up with a game...

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

Here is a full set of #'s as you requested: FC 16 CC 0 TC 16 pH 7.2 T/A 120 CH 70 CYA 50 Just a little update, the filter is still holding pressure and water coming back in is still fairly strong. I'll let you know what happens in the morning after doing the OCLT. Thanks :)

Thanks a bunch! I'll keep you posted.

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

I'm sorry to keep asking questions, but I've been checking on the filter and the PSI increased by 3 and the water pressure coming back into the pool has slowed down to a comparative trickle. Is this to be expected or did I do something wrong? At this point, I plan on backwashing and repeating...

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

Just wanted to let you know, I re-read the directions and added the DE. It took 3/4 of a cup to bring it up 1 PSI. We'll see what happens from here :)

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

Will do, thanks! I'm sure of the CYA level- I tested it probably 5 times just to be sure with the TF-100 kit. I just backwashed the filter this morning, and will start the DE process. Thank you again! I'll report back tomorrow.

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

I read up on the DE in the filter, but have not done it. (I know this sounds funny, but I cringe to do 'new' things b/c I'm afraid I'll mess it up :) Silly, I know) Would now be the time, I presume? Unless you tell me otherwise, I will start that today then and continue shocking today...

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

Some more questions, please.... I did the OCLT last night, and was very careful with my measuring and testing. My FC was at 20 and when I woke up early this morning(6AM) and tested it was 19. I tested CC's and it was at .5. BUT, my water is still not clear, it's actually a beautiful blue...

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

OK, OK... I failed :( Last night I brought the FC up to shock level, 20, and early this morning when I tested it was 18, so... continuing to slam today and will retest tonight. PAGirl- I read a post about that and printed the instructions out, so we'll see if that helps. I was also reading...

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

I brought the FC up to 21. Perhaps I should bring it back up tonight, and actually remember to check it first thing tomorrow morning?

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

I should clarify- I started the shocking process two days ago. Last night, I 'finished' (poor choice of words, sorry), meaning I brought it back up to shock level a little before I went to bed. I tested it before I went to bed, but unfortunately forgot to test it first thing in the morning...

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

Yes, I've backwashed the filter almost daily at first, and less now that it is keeping its pressure steady. I SLAMmed the pool on a few different occassions, but most recently just finished yesterday. - - - Updated - - - It is holding its FC level, so I *think* I'm done. I cringe to admit...

beautiful blue pool... but not clear.

Hi there~ I started the year with a green swamp, shocked according to the method listed here, and now have a beautiful blue colored pool. The only thing is, I'd like it to be a clear water pool, and can't seem to get there. My filter has been running nonstop for about 3 weeks now, and I think...

can't get the pool sparkly clear and getting frustrated....

Re: can't get the pool sparkly clear and getting frustrated. I do that with the drain open for about 30 seconds, so I don't believe that to be the issue. I honestly have hated this filter since I have gotten it, but everybody keeps telling me how wonderful of a job it does, so I've kept it...

can't get the pool sparkly clear and getting frustrated....

Here's what I have for numbers as of this morning: FC 5 CC .5 pH 7.2 TA 90 CYA 30 I have a good test kit from TFTestkits.com and have used it to get my swamp back to *almost* clean, but can't seem to get there all the way. I have passed the overnight chlorine test several times and the water...

Turning Your Green Swamp Back into a Sparkling Oasis

THANK YOU for this site and this thread as well. I literally turned pond water into a sparkling clean beautiful pool with the advice here! Our pool was nearly empty this spring (not sure why b/c it's holding water just fine & not leaking) so instead of trucking water in we filled it with water...

    more questions, pretty please :)

I know I've been reading on here and learning and asking, but I'm just not quite confident enough in myself. So.... I went into the dreaded pool store for DE and opened my big mouth, brought water and asked questions :hammer: You'd think I'd learn by now  So anyway... here are my...
