Hot tub with with 400 ppm CH

I'm on day 5 with my new 400g hot tub. The water where I live has 400 ppm CH. From what I've read, with a high CH I should keep my TA around 50 and my PH low around 7.2 to prevent scaling on the heater. Here are my current levels: Cl - 2 TA - 70 CH- 400 Borates - 50 CYA - 30 PH 7.8 My water...

    Repair sand cove

I had a leak behind my liner which resulted in a few areas of my sand cove washing away in the shallow end. I fixed the leak but now i want to fix the sand cove. Closing with high chlorine

I updated my signature. The only reason I'm concerned is that after I shocked my pool, I read that you should adjust your PH to between 7.2 and 7.4 before shocking. I was at 7.6. Kind of late now. I'll just close. Thanks for the help Catanzaro.

    No drain plug in pump

I'm getting ready to close my pool and realized my pump does not have any drain plugs. I have a Hayward Turbo Flo II . You can see the two holes in the picture where drain plugs would normally go. I called Hayward and they said my pump shares the same plastic casing as the higher end models...

Extend the life of gas heater

Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum but love what I see so far. I was wondering what everyone who has a gas pool heater does to extend it's life. I understand that the biggest factor in the life of a pool heater is water chemistry. Does anyone drain and flush their heater often. I figured...
