    Pool cover and reel advice

Hi all Long time since last post. I'm after a cover + reel for the attached. What should I look for: 1- the pricey recommendation from the pool shop 2- cheaper options from eBay and the likes (Sun2Solar cover; Vingli reel; etc...) Also, would 12mm be thick enough? Shop quoted 6mm, seems...

    Need new filter

Thanks, I'll crunch the numbers and see if I can upgrade to a larger cartridge. I want to stay as cheap as possible, but still with quality equipment.

    Need new filter

$hops recommendations, better filtration and longer life compared to sand. I had sand and DE before and it was doing an ok job, just found deep cleaning quite painful as sand was always super compact and hard to loosen. mind you the sand was already in the filter when I bought the house 6 years...

    Need new filter

Hi all I've got a crack in my sand filter and need replacement. I was given the below options from my 3 local pool shops and I'm after some advice. I've done a bit of research but could not really tell them all apart and I wonder if I should go for the cheapest package. I've also asked for an...

    Heat pump recommendations

Hi all I don’t have any solar (yet). No sure I can have. Lots trees around and limited sun exposure. Electricity is $0.21/kWh

    Heat pump recommendations

Hi all Long time since last post, hope you're all keeping well. Considering installing a heat pump to extend the swimming season. From my research, a 17kW would be the minimum size. Would need one with its own pump to work independently from my filter / chlorinator. I have a heater piping...

    pH reading

Thanks everyone I didn’t find using 4 drops in a 25m to be so much different to 2-in-10 or 5-in-25 @BrettClearChoiceLabs would it be possible to add a pH 8.0 colour square to your testing tube? Since my pool really loves pH 7.8 it would make it easier for me to know when to adjust pH. I’m...

    VX7-T issues

Hi I only use 2 programmed timers (T3 and T4 are not available) so 3h in the morning and 1h in the evening for now, I'll increase with the demand as we progress in the season. It could happen anytime on any program, there's no telling when it'll happen. I'll give their support team a call...

Polaris 360 wheel turning very slow

Hi! I had the same Polaris and eventually ran into similar issues. i found out the hard way that once a part started to fail, the other parts weren’t far behind and I ended up spending too much money fixing bits and pieces as they were falling apart. my advice, knowing what I know now, is...

    VX7-T issues

Hey mate Did the same since I never checked end of cycle at the very last minute. if I get flashing lights at the beginning of cycle, they never go solid and I’m not getting chlorine production. but at the very end of the cycle I get about 2 minutes of flashing without chlorine production...

    VX7-T issues

That would be a great feature, but going through all the manual there is no reference to such a feature. Unless your SWG is more recent than mine (I think mine was built in 2013) and it has such a feature. Or you may have a similar problem to mine, except I never got flashing lights after they...

    VX7-T issues

Hi all Gonna bump this one for the weekend see if more people can chime in. I realise the SWG is quite unique to the Australian market so maybe not many people here can help. Thanks anyway

    pH reading

Hi all I'm having more and more issues reading the pH, getting real hard for for me to differentiate between the pink to purple colour changes. I think I've read somewhere the members using Taylors kit add 1 less drop of reagent and that helps them (4 instead of 5 in a 25ml sample if I...

    Bluey

Hi all, With Spring on its way here, the local wildlife is emerging out of hibernation. Here is our resident blue tongue lizard, kids call him Bluey (quite original!) He's been living under the pool deck and is quite friendly, comes out in the morning sun, and regularly throughout the day.

    VX7-T issues

Hi again I thought I'd post a quick vid of the issue, but the file is too big. Also wanted to confirm once the lights are steady, they stay during the pump run cycle. They would only blink / flash at the very start of a new cycle. If steady right away, or if I make them steady as previously...

Thanks. 4300ppm, cell is rated 4000. I always bump it by 3-400 at the beginning of the season.

    VX7-T issues

Hi all More and more often, when my pump/swg system start (timer regulated by swg controller), the green LED lights indicating FC output flash instead of steady, the controller show FC 0 output, and there is no chlorine cloud in the cell case. I need to quickly shift from auto to on to off to...

Why would FAS-DPD test give different results

Are you using enough FAS-DPD powder to saturate your sample? Not enough powder will give you false low FC results.

    Australian market

Thanks. Yes all good, for now ;) I haven't upgraded yet as I am strongly considering the X40. Due to budget restrictions I'm back to the old manual vacuum technique, which I have to admit, is quite therapeutic, spending 30-45 min pool side gently vacuuming the pool :)

    Bushfire and pH

Hi all Getting lots of ashes and burnt debris from surrounding fire fronts. I've noticed my pH kept going up much faster than usual and TA >120 when it usually sits around 70-80. Is this due to copious amounts of ashes falling in the pool? Any special treatment besides monitoring pH and TA...

    Australian market

Thanks Jim Yeah I know they're different types of cleaners, but if the Rebel 2 is doing a great job, it's only a 3rd of the price. My pool is very simple with no features: rectangular 8x4, steps on both ends. That's it. The great advantage of the robot is I won't have to brush the pool as...

    PV panels and electric heater

Thanks everyone for all your answers. I mentioned previously I don't have enough room on the roof to have both systems: PV + pool heating strips / panels. That's why I was going PV since I can generate energy for the whole household, and not just for pool heating. Gas is fairly expensive where...
