I just closed my pool today. So to answer my own question I decided to do both. First i sucked the water out with the pump. Then i used the shop vac to blow in the line. I got another gallon and a half of water by blowing. So blowing the line is the way to go. Thank you all for your replies.

I think that is what I am trying to understand. The pump is fully primed. Shouldnt it suck all the water from the plumbing before running dry? Thank you.

I just slamed my pool successfully with 12.5% liquid chlorine. 2.99 a gallon from ocean state job lot here in MA.

Thank you so much for your reply. I forgot to mention I have a swg. Should i keep my swg running while I add cya? I will add 30 ppm cya today. And then slowly go up to recommended 70?
