Confused by Poolmath app regarding PH

You'd think I knew that already. SMH. I probably lowered it for a SLAM and forgot I did it and that it was user adjustable. I do hope there is a time when the pool quits making me feel stupid. Thank you for your help.

Confused by Poolmath app regarding PH

The app says - Recommended is 7.2 - 8.0 Ideal is 7.6 - 7.8 Current test is 7.5 Target PH is 7.4 (?) and is asking me to add acid for the last two days. Seems contradictory, thanks for any thoughts... TA is 65 FC is 1 CYA is something around 10 - I have been slowly adding CYA over last couple...

    What order to start balancing?

Thanks for that, I was wondering what the math was for the pucks. I looked at the container and couldn't find a "CYA" number. the stuff i have says 99% trichloro-s-triazinetrione?

    What order to start balancing?

Thanks for the tips. Working on chlorine now. I'm wondering if a little CYA in the form of conditioner would help the chlorine loss?

    What order to start balancing?

Right now I cant maintain FC there, likely because of the low CYA. I tested twice with my old kit and got the same result on CYA so I bought the fresh refills and same result. We had some big rains here that may have contributed...I have had to drain water out of the pool three times so far...

    What order to start balancing?

I have finished my SLAM successfully and have just been adding chlorine over the last month or so. Pool is clear and best it's looked in a long time. However, I am outside the ranges on some chemicals and the chlorine is gone every morning. I tested a few weeks ago and became concerned about my...

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

Understood. I have read all the articles, Now do I remember everything? Nope. There's a lot of moving parts to a "Trouble Free Pool" and I feel like the app does a nice job of simplifying some of it, or storing some of it for easy reference. But I'll be the first to admit, I'm in the...

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

Just as an FYI to anyone else needing to slam. This being my second, I'm pretty amazed at the difference the PH and CYA make to the speed of the process and the amount of chlorine. I added 202 oz of 10% bleach (HDX Liquid from HD) last night at 8:30. Pool already at milky white stage at 9:00...

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

And in my defense, I was paying more attention to the app and while it has a chlorine function for slamming, it doesn't have a PH function for same. So I read the article, missed the PH and I keep my phone with me at my test station and its of course advising different PH than what Texas Splash...

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

I had that bookmarked, went back to it, read it, and somehow missed the PH part. I think I have read it so many times I'm skimming too much. Thanks for the reminder to ACTUALLY read it all!

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

Yeah got it down to 7.2 and then added the first dose of chlorine. Will test in the morning. Pump running full time. Interested in how different this slam experience is vs the last one given my low CYA and better PH. Seemed like it took forever last time.

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

Good question but I saw that I needed to get the PH right. Just didn't realize slamming PH was different than operating PH....

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

This time it was actually 8.2. Going forward as you suggested. Just added a cup + shooting for 7.6.

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

Yes makes sense. I didn't realize the target for a slam was lower. I added one cup to get to 7.8 after the initial 2+ cups didn't seem to do anything but I think its just way higher than 8.2 if that's possible. Waiting now and will test again. Btw I tested again just to confirm it was really...

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

Its kinda weird, the app says recommended 7.2 - 8.0, ideal 7.6 - 7.8? Should I shoot for 7.8 using your suggestion?

Preparing to SLAM - cant seem to get the PH right

Lots of algae. Worse than the last time I slammed it. I had removed about a third of the water due to high CYA (70) from previous pool maintenance people. Replaced and tested and all seemed in balance, cleaned the pool filter and things went haywire. I couldn't keep chlorine in it and then I...

These Dolphin numbers and names sure are confusing.

Thanks for the info, that makes sense. It makes you wonder who ultimately stands behind the product. Is it the dealer/seller or Maytronics? We all know not every, ar maybe even any, dealer really stocks all the parts and has repair expertise on hand. it sounds like one of those companies that...

These Dolphin numbers and names sure are confusing.

On another thread It was recommended I get an S200 but searches turn up products with names not numbers. Same with M500...am I missing something? Went to Marina Polls site and I get this? https://www.marinapoolspaandpatio.com/node/4121 Nautilus? I need a good robot, self contained electric...

The economics of a pool decision.

We like to call this the "yin"side of the house...shady, wind blocked, low energy kind of feel. My wife's favorite part is floating and looking up into the tree canopy. (But she doesn't really maintain it either ;)

Does that "full" alert come to your phone on that 500? I can't see the pool from the main part of the house so I need something to tell me it needs attention. Otherwise, out of sight -out of mind.

Thanks for the info, does it help to upsize these things given my leaf, and this year's acorn season?

The economics of a pool decision.

Yep agreed. A pool seems to be best built if the home is 600k +, As you go down in price, but the pool doesn't, it just gets upside down. At some point it's just a terrible investment and you had better just love having a pool...more than a lot of other things.
