    Pentair Intellichlor when powered off

I have a new pool and am running an IC 40 connected to an Easy Touch automation controller. I have noticed when the pool pump shuts off at the end of its daily timer cycle, the Intellichlor control lights stay lit and the no flow light is on obviously due to no pump running. I assumed the salt...

    Spa spillway tile question

I am just talking about tile at the waterline. The spillway will be stacked flagstone and the face will be a split fact stone. They can run the flagstone down to the edge of the water or run the tile along the bottom of the flagstone at the waterline.

    Spa spillway tile question

My PB asked if we wanted the water line tile to continue under the bottom of the spillway. We will have an attached spa with a 9 foot wide stacked stone spillway. What is most common? I’ve looked at some pics online but not sure what would look best.

    Spa spillway control

What if I want to have flow to the pool and spa at the same time? I understand the traditional spillway mode sends flow to the spa only. I would prefer to have everything circulating together and be able to control the flow of the spillway. How can I accomplish that?

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

So with the custom spillway mode you can essentially control the level of flow between pool and spa? Do you ever use the full spillway mode? I can’t see ever using that setting.

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

In your custom spillway mode how much flow do you get at your spillway? Would that be the same as having a pool mode that provides flow to pool and spa? My previous pool did not have a spillway only mode. Just pool and spa and when in pool mode I got flow to pool and spa and spillway.

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

I plan to talk with them about it but my primary concern is maximizing the benefit of the VS pump which they don't typically install. Want to know the options to best control pool and spa flow considering the spa spillway.

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

So I don't need to worry about a diverter valve? Just have the spa and pool always recirculating when in pool mode and increase rpms when I want more flow on the spillway? and not configure the plumbing to have a spillway mode

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

The spa will be raised 18" and will have flagstone step downs. So the water will flow over the edge. I just want to ensure I have good flow out of the spa for effect. Can I simply add a 3 way valve to allow adjustments to the flow into the spa when it is recirculating with the pool?

Do you have a diagram of this set up?

Is there a plumbing diagram that shows these three modes?

    Spa spillway control

We have decided to go with a variable speed pump and need some info on how to plumb the spa to have the ability to independently control the flow of the spillway. I understand in order to take advantage of the low flow of the variable speed pump I should request a spa "make-up" line in order...

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

There will be a diverter valve for the pool and spa. My understanding is when in spa mode the valve will close off the pool returns and send all flow to the spa. I guess I need to ask for the extra 3-way valve so I can control the spillway independently while in pool mode, correct? If I don't...

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

Cool, Thank you for all of the feedback. I like the idea of being able to run the pump longer at lower RPMs to better control the salt cell. The only concern I have is the spa spillway and how much flow it will require and still reap the advantage of low RPMs for the energy savings.

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

Model #011018. That's the correct one? The previous qoute was for the SVRS model. That's the reason it was so high.

They had quoted the wrong pump. The upcharge is now $475. I am going to go with the VS pump.

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

Just got the pricing from my PB to upgrade to the VS pump from the Whisper Flo. It is $800. Seems a little steep. Here are the specs of my pool: 36'X17'.5"X16"11" free form, 654 Sq Feet, 114' perimeter 4' - 6' - 4' depth, travertine coping, one sun bench with 2 bubblers, 9' X 6'5" freeform...

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

Are there guidelines on how to optimize the pump speed with given demands (filtration, sanitation, etc.). Just trying to prepare if my PB is not up to programming the VS pump should I go that route.

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

Joyful noise, Thanks for the info. We have a small 1hp water feature pump to run the bubblers so I can control them independent of the pool. Also our spa will have a large spillway(think infinity edge) that will require alot of flow. I am going to get pricing to swap the whisper flo with the...

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

What model Pentair pumps should I request? Do they make multiple models VS and dual speed pumps? My pool is around 25K Gallons and will have an attached spa.

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

What model Intelliflo do you recommend? I agree with the automation we are getting we should take advantage. My PB, for some reason, is not a believer in VS pumps. What should I expect for cost difference between the Whisper Flo and Intelliflo?

    Standard vs. Variable speed pump

We are scheduled to start our pool project next week and I have some questions about the pump selection. Our current plan calls for a Pentair Whisperflo #011774 which is a single speed 2hp pump. It will run the filtration and sanitation (chlorinator) We are using a Pentair IC 40 salt cell...

    Depth Question

Bumping this thread to the top. We are digging early next week and need to finalize depth. Currently 3.5 x 6 x 4. The length is 37 feet. Thoughts? Thinking of going 4 x 6 x 4 but pb says 4 may be too much drop for entry steps.

    swimming pool lighting question

So you would not have a mini LED at the entry steps? Just on the sun shelf?

    swimming pool lighting question

I am thinking if I delete the mini LEDs on the entry steps and on the sun bench, I would move the 5G light to the same end as the steps, centered on the end to cast toward the opposite end and keep the spa light. The bubblers are not lighted.
