    Best pool floats?

We really like the Water Pop Pool Floats however they are now ~$48!! That's absurd considering the were like $20 a couple of years ago. They are comfortable however and I like that they have a backrest and your ars is still in the water for those hot days

    Concrete deck refinishing...

Lanzz, your concrete came out really good. I think this is the ticket. Did you have any cracks in the concrete and if so how did they come out?

    Hayward Heater Issues

Late entry update... Went with the 400K BTU and did the install myself. Easy-Peasy. The 400K cranks and is much quieter than my old 200K unit which used to whistle. Thanks to those who recommended the 400K unit. The water coming out the return line is very warm when the heater is running. Very...

    Hayward Heater Issues

^^^ Yes, I believe so. I was told to make sure that there's ample gas pressure. Not sure if the 200K BTU requires the same gas pressure as the 400K.

    Hayward Heater Issues

Ok, thanks. Any thoughts on where I should purchase this heater?

    Hayward Heater Issues

Nope, no spa. I was thinking that I should probably get a 40,000 BTU capable heater. Was kind of surprised that the one I have is only 20,000. I also just confirmed the code it's throwing after I depress the temp up or dn key is r3. It displays that code for a few seconds then a number around...

    Hayward Gas Heater Problems

I think I have the right section now... So I have a SR200NA Hayward gas heater that's approximately 17 years old. With a 20'x40' 28,000 gal pool I'm not sure if this is even the proper size heater for the pool. Didn't know much when we had it put in. I also pull the board every winter as mice...

    Hayward Heater Issues

Not sure if this is the right section for this post but, it seemed better than the hot tub/spa forum. Maybe not. So I have a SR200NA Hayward gas heater that's approximately 17 years old. With a 20'x40' 28,000 gal pool I'm not sure if this is even the proper size heater for the pool. Didn't...

Clicking Sound From Hot Tub motor -- SOLVED --

Re: Clicking Sound From Hot Tub motor Isn't clicking normally associated with relay actions? My tub was tripping the GFI plug so I decided to replace the relays after pretty much isolating everything else that I thought might be causing the tripping. No more noise from the relays and so far so...

Tiger River Sumatran Summer Mode Stuck On

I may have mislead you but there's nothing wrong with either pump. Both are working fine. My issue is I can't get out of Summer Mode. Thinking it may be the control panel. Since I replaced the relays I haven't any issue with the GFCI tripping, of course that's all going to change with this post ;-)

Tiger River Sumatran Summer Mode Stuck On

Hi everyone, I have a twenty year old (1998) Tiger River Sumantran that we've been nursing along for the past year or so. Prior to that everything was pretty good with the occassional pump replacement etc. This past spring I had to replace both the Jet and circulation pumps. Once those were...

OK, thanks much for the replies.

    Pool Cleaner Power?

Quick question, can you use an extension cord to connect to your pool cleaner? I ask because the closest outlet is some 30'-40' away and the GFI might even be further. I thought I read that your power connection has to be plugged straight to the outlet. Thanks,

    Low Calcium in Vinyl Pool

My CH showed 125 ppm with my test kit and the pool store's test showed it being at 79ppm. Their solution was for me to add 48lbs of calcium increase. My solution was to walk out the door (I do buy their liquid chlorine) without the calcium. Poking around I see that low CH levels for vinyl pools...

    Pump Motor Performance

Yep, that was it. It came from the factory wired for 230 which makes sense when you think about it. Very simple adjustment. Thanks for the help Bama Rambler!

    Pump Motor Performance

Sounds good I'll take a look! I was just having a similar conversation with an associate. I'll post what I find.

    Pump won't run at all

Is/was your motor hot to the touch when running? Is it pretty noisy? You could pull the pump and ohm test it or try and bench test it if it's 110v. Chances are that if it's routinely tripping breakers than all is not well with it and it may need replacement. How old is it? I'm sure others will...

    Pump Motor Performance

Hello Everyone, I recently purchased a 1.5hp Emerson (Watkins 5000) replacement electric motor (115 volts) on Ebay from a pool store and installed it in my spa. It's an exact replacement and looks new. Well I got it all rigged up, plugged in the spa and turned the jets on only to discover it...

Replace Fiberstars FiberOptic Inground Pool Light

I was wondering how they could replace the fiber optic lines without draining the pool down and see they use a coffer dam. Brilliant. Wonder how they keep it pressed up against the side of the pool?

    Previous Chemical Usage

This is the first year I've gone with TFP and I can't believe how much better my water has been all year plus how much less in chemicals I use. Specifically, I haven't used any algaecide, calcium hardner or stabilizer and have gone with liquid chlorine and borax to keep my numbers in check...

    New and Chasing Balance

Not sure I understand what you do here? I'm very concerned about inadvertently running my CYA too high after having several tests that show it being under 20.

    New and Chasing Balance

So despite me being giddy about how clear my pool is I can't seem to keep the chlorine level up throughout the course of the day. Again the pool is crystal clear, the CC is .5, I lose perhaps 1ppm overnight but over the course of the day I lose about 2.5ppm. That said my CYA test is still...

    New and Chasing Balance

Just wanted to provide a little bit of feedback after my first rodeo (SLAM) here on TFP. It took a bit of understanding and patience on my part but the end result is more than I ever imagined. I can't believe how crystal clear my pool water has turned out. It is absolutely the clearest I've ever...

    New and Chasing Balance

I'll certainly help out if I can. My latest...1330 today: FC:8, CC:.5, CYA:20. Added just over a gal to get it back up to Target FC for 30 CYA however I'm really below 20 as per my test. The CYA kinda concerns me as it's real sunny out. I added about 2.5lbs yesterday as per PM but the...

    New and Chasing Balance

This morning my FC was 7.5. Added 171 oz. Pool is much clearer so I was able to get the last of the lingering spots of algae that I couldn't see yesterday. I think I'm almost there and anxious to do the overnight test once the water is fully clear. This site has been excellent. Thanks everyone!

    New and Chasing Balance

How's my SLAM going? Water is still cloudy and the deep end seems to still have a light shade of green. How often do you recommend I retest as my last test slipped to a two hour interval.
