I called the trucking company and they charge 115$/hr for a tri-axle that they say can be loaded by a bobcat. The landfill management charges 75$ for a 10 wheeler and 150$ for a semi, but I need to perform soil analysis that stays valid for 90 days. The company that was suggested by the landfill...

@jimmythegreek yeah the local rental yard has machines with buckets at least that size. I have rented both track and skid steer in the past. I love the track ones because they can easily go up and down slopes that one can barely climb on foot, while transporting large amounts of material like...

Thanks for the comment @jimmythegreek . It's good to hear from a pro :) I'm just worried that the 100+ yards of compacted soil I need to excavate will become double that when moved around. Staging area to the road where a tri-axle can easily stop is about 150ft, that will slow down loading...

I was thinking about about that but it's a lot of dirt and while I have a staging area, the risk is that it would sit for weeks and then I'd have to rent the front loader again to get rid of it on dump trucks. Ideally it'd be hauled away while I dig. I guess it will depend on the quotes I get :)

Oh I did some math and it is much more dirt that I originally thought :D something like 113 cubic yards when compacted. I'll need large equipment, I'll be calling around on Monday. Can anybody recommend a dirt hauling company for the Bay Area...?

I received the bracket needed to mount the Fastlane (that is supposed to be delivered fully in July 2021). This phase of the build is an exercise in patience, the various components come in at a glacial pace, however I am pretty sure at some point there is going to be a huge rush to get...

Still no work from the shipping company about the missing boxes. Those will be needed towards the end of the project so I am not worried YET... but still. In the meantime I got pump, chlorinator and few valves from Polytec:

Tankless Water Heater to Heat My Pool

Serious question: what is the worst that can happen if you add them in parallel and go beyond the max allowed by the line? CO generation is unlikely if there is low fuel pressure. Heat output might not be the sum of both heaters but it will max out at some point. I am not suggesting you go...

Well she makes everything take longer, she gets into potentially mildly dangerous situations, she most definitely does not make use of proper PPE, but I hope long term she develops a mind set of good work ethics. Surely digging by hand is miserable and tedious... so much respect for the...

Of course. Obviously I have not been able to try anything but so far so good. I'm the meantime we resumed prep work for the equipment pad pour... We will need few more hours. The location requires us to work completely by hand. I need to remove about 4-8" of soil, but we found that it's oddly...

The autocover part of the pool kit has been delivered - even though some of those boxes look pretty beat-up, once we opened every single one of them, the stuff inside seems in a pretty good condition after transport.

Work has been a little slow but we have mostly cleared the area and "fixed" the irrigation system for the trees. A licensed electrician checked my plan for the subpanel and gave me thumbs up. This is the view from the equipment pad location @jimmythegreek : those concrete "steps" will be removed...

Ohh I see what you mean. I will not have to touch the retaining wall at all, difficult to explain with words but I'll send a pic tomorrow. Yeah, my structural engineer (the good one) was onsite and we explicitly discussed where pipes will run, took measurements of the retaining wall etc thanks...

Today we officially started construction! We will try to do a lot of stuff by ourselves, taking it real easy, especially in the following 12 weeks while we wait for delivery of the kit. This is the selected location for the pool equipment pad. We need to move that mulch down to a different area...

The order for the pool kit was placed, dig sheets received... fairly simple dig as it is a rectangular pool. However the lead time for the actual components is 12 weeks + shipment so I have some time for planning. Also, placed the final order for the Fastlane Pro. They have a lead time of ten...

OK! Thanks for the support, I got the pool approved by the city!-!!!1!! As @jimmythegreek suggested, I got (an awesome) local PE that made sure all the city requirements were met. The plan checker was pretty good too after all. On a side note, I am also in the process to permit a pergola or...

Poolwarehouse.com provided the "type 2 diving pool" drawing but that wasn't included in the Engineer plans (that I can provide to anybody interested by the way) and it sounds like this could be easily fixed. If I need to hire a geotechnical service to sample my soil - I can very well do it, but...

I have involved Poolwarehouse.com and they started writing emails to the Engineer too but it's unclear if that... will make any difference. I assume this time between Christmas and New Year's has a lower chance to elicit a response. I contacted pooleng.com to see if they could step in but they...

I am not even sure I can continue my old thread as it has been more than 60 days. Problem is, the City had some requests to be added to the Engineering drawings and I have been trying to get back from the Structural Engineer. This Engineer has never answered any of my voicemails, emails...

The city already replied saying it looks good, but now I have to start the formal process. I have prepared my own site plan drawings - those have been already pre-approved by the planning department of the City last year, so I am confident. We will see how much they "evaluate" the project to...
