Is a SWG switch worth it?

I did not add any salt, no. I re-tested the salt a day or so after this post and it reads 4,200. Still high enough to replace water I assume?

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Hello, still have not had a chance to deal with the pool vac but will get to that soon. I did do a full chem test yesterday and my salt level is up to 5K, which is outside the range of the CircuPool. I assume that level is high enough that I need to drain a little water to get the salt level...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

I was assuming that the skimmer and main drain are connected to that diverter valve. But I am not entirely sure. The pool was plumbed well before I moved in. And when I had the filter/pump replaced back in 2016 or so, I don't think the installer informed me of the setup. The valve may have...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Well, I am back again. :-) Chlorine is still being dialed in. It held at 7.5 from 5/8-5/9, but today was down to 6. I increased the chlorine output from 15% to 25%. Right now I am just trying to get it to a point where the chlorine level will hold (longer than a day). Separately, I...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Ha, I know, I know. But seriously, the response times, quality of advice, patience, cordiality, etc. are so great on this forum. Thanks again. Making the move to using this forum and managing my own pool (wow, about 6 or so years ago now!) was well worth it.

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Y’all are awesome. Thanks for answering my 1000 questions! This process has been a great learning experience. I’ll keep hitting up the forum for help when needed. I am sure it’ll happen, haha.

Is a SWG switch worth it?

So basically the goal is to ensure that the SWG is generating at least enough chlorine to replenish the high loss days. Chlorine should at least be in range (5-10), higher is OK (up to 13). I should step in and adjust chlorine output if chlorine levels exceed 13 or drop below 5. Is that...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

    OK so here's the chlorine results since turning on the SWG: 5/4 (early morning) - 7 (Set SWG to 75% output) 5/4 (about 4-5 hrs later) - 9.5 5/5 - 14.5 (Dropped output to 0) 5/6 - 9.5 (Increased output to 10%) 5/7 - 8.5 My recommended chlorine is minimum 3, range of 5-10. Am I shooting for a...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Btw, while I am dialing in the chlorine & SWG, is it advisable for the pool to be used? Or would it be better to not have swimmers messing with the chemicals? It's already pool season here in AZ and my wife has been asking me about this, as the kids want to swim. I've been holding them off, ha.

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Thanks all. I'll invert the cell (I had a feeling I needed to do that) and will play around with the pump speed and duration for the vac. As for dialing in the SWG chlorine output, my chlorine went from 7 to 14.5 in the first 24 hrs; this is at 75% output. By how much should I drop that %?

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Awesome, I'll give this a try I am happy with how everything turned out and can't wait to reap the benefits of the new SWG. I have had FAR too many summer evenings of pouring more LC into my pool. It sucks.

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Makes sense, I'll give that a try. What RPM is recommended for the vac time frame?

Is a SWG switch worth it?

What I am trying to confirm is how to manage schedules to accommodate both running the pump 24/7 at a low RPM, as well as needing to run at a higher RPM so that my vacuum actually moves. It seems I need to have a Schedule that runs at higher RPM for the vac (maybe that is what they were...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

I misinterpreted this? "I bet you can cut the vac schedule down a bunch, especially once all the spring crud stops falling. Try 2 hours a day, then 2 hour every other day and so on. Full throttle for a little over 2 hours uses the same energy as 24 hours at 1200 RPMs, so you'll want to...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

@jamesey - Yesterday you mentioned that you run your pump 24/7 at the lowest setting you can; I've had a couple of other people comment that they prefer this setup as well. The post above is recommending high RPM (what RPM btw?) for 1/4 of the time my pump currently runs. So what, run it from...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

All of this SWG setup got me thinking about my pump setup, especially since I am giving a go at running the pump 24/7 for the SWG. I've determined that the pump should be in the 1,000-1,200 RMP range for continuous use while generating chlorine via the SWG. However, my pool is older (built in...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

I went out just now to increase the pump RPM to 1000, and noticed that the Generate light was not on. Not sure if it was because the RPM was too low (750 worked just fine this morning), or if it was in its resting period of the duty cycle. Nonetheless, I increased the pump RPM and the Generate...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

@jamesey - A few questions: 1. How do I find the Average 24hr FC Demand figure? - I assume that is the loss of chlorine in a 24hr period? I just checked my chlorine and I am at 7. Should I check it again tomorrow morning (same time) and see what it has dropped to? That would be my average FC...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

@jamesey - Good morning! OK, so I went out this morning and did the following: - Plugged in the power cord and flow meter cord from the SWG to the control module - Took the dogs off the timer, set the time, and toggled it to ON - On my pump (Pentair Intelliflo) I went to the Speed 1 setting...

Is a SWG switch worth it?

Ah, I gotcha. So just remove those and with the silver switch in the ON position, the timer is always ON, meaning the SWG is always on with the pump.

Is a SWG switch worth it?

So I've got my pool chem levels in line (chlorine, CYA, pH, TA), and salt level is 4K (high end for CP but within range). Now it seems like I can actually turn the SWG on yes? As noted in a previous post, my Intermatic timer is wired as follows: Power - 1/3 (Line side) Pump - 1/3 SWG - 2/4...
