    Hayward Superpump Making Buzzing Noise

This was it. Was able to spin the impeller a little and you could hear where it was rubbing on something at a certain point in its rotation. Just kept pulling pieces of grass out and kept turning it off/on to try and clear it and it finally did clear. Thanks a bunch!

    Hayward Superpump Making Buzzing Noise

Hey all, my pump has been running just fine and all of the sudden, started to make this buzzing/humming noise. I've attached a youtube showing what it's doing and then powering it off so you can hear it spinning down too. Pump is about 4 years old I believe. *Edit, the clicking you are...

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Can you fill me in on how to use this? Sounds like a good alternative should all the puck users start sucking up our LC supply.

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

The Walmart stores in OKC area have the usual LC 10.5% for 3.74/gallon. The ones I saw were dated the 98th day of this year so really fresh (April 8th thereabouts).

    SWG Installation Help

Long story short, I bought a complete Aquarite Gold system and T-15 cell at a garage sale for $40 a few years back! The guy's story was that he had it installed but could never get it the way he wanted and was selling the home. He didn't like the buyers of his home so he pulled it off and...

So... there is no bleach in this town. Should I use pucks for a while...?

Home Depot sells liquid chlorine for pools but beware that around here, it's always stored outside in lawn/garden where there is so much temperature fluctuation that any benefit of getting the higher percentage bleach is negated. It's usually also much older and will have lost 50% of its...

Drained pool, SLAM'ed, and now CYA too low?

Welcome to the forums kind southerly neighbor! I recommend this CYA kit as it includes much more reagent and to me, is much easier to use than the portion of the Taylor kit for CYA. Amazon.com : Blue Devil Cyanuric Acid Test Kit for Swimming Pools, 4 oz. : Garden & Outdoor I used to get...

    Chlorine deal

You're lucky. Around here, as soon as the 4th of July is over, the Walmart locations around here all believe that no one swims after the 4th and they start to deplete their inventory without re-ordering it. By the end of July and first of August, it becomes an exercise in frustration even...

Walmart Pool Essentials - Stock Up?

Both Lowes and Home Depot carry liquid chlorine but the problem is, they stock it outdoors and don't seem to ever get rid of old inventory so you could effectively be buying chlorine from the previous season if you're not careful. Even here in Oklahoma where it's not uncommon to go for a dip in...

CC rising, very windy and tons of pollen and organic debris being blown in

It came back down after about 24hrs to .5 at best (very, very slightly pinkish hue to the clear water). So it most likely was the pollen and Crud blowing around.

CC rising, very windy and tons of pollen and organic debris being blown in

Could this be the cause? FInished a SLAM and passed the OCLT test last week. Numbers are near perfect, yet CC started off at 0 after the SLAM, stayed that way for a couple of days, then rose to .5ppm. As of yesterday, it's now at 1.0ppm. Here in Oklahoma, everything is off the charts...

Anyone have experience with Tiger Shark In-ground Pool Cleaner?

I have a Hayward Sharkvac which is a lower tiered cleaner than the one you posted. It's pretty simplistic in that it doesn't have a caddy, remote, or any of the bells and whistles of more expensive cleaners and isn't designed to climb walls (it sometimes does until it realizes it shouldn't...

New re-plaster in the fall, rough finish / scaling on first spring opening.

Wow, 20x40, the photo really obfiscates the width of it and makes it look much more narrow. As long as you know what it is, that's all that matters!

New re-plaster in the fall, rough finish / scaling on first spring opening.

Just looking at your picture, you sure that's 36K gallons? Looks more like about the mid 20's to me judging by your fence, post spacing, and pavers measuring it out in my head. Just something to keep in mind when figuring your pool math.

A Huge Thank You to TFP and Pool Math!

Hey all, I've been using the TFP method now going on my 3rd season. This season however, was the first time I followed the method for my opening whereas last year, I used shock and jacked my CYA too high resulting in several partial drain/refills. My pool stays uncovered for the winter as the...

    2019 Bleach Prices

Aldi has since dropped their concentration as well from 8.25% down to 6%. Same price as always though at about $2.59/gallon. Problem I ran into with Aldi however is that sometimes I swear the bleach I got had sat somewhere in a warehouse or stockroom for eons as the color was all but gone when...

    1 1/2" to 2" Question

Ok, by luck about 3 seasons ago, I found a complete Goldline (Hayward) Aqua Rite swcg system a guy had used for a year and then switched back to chlorine. He sold it to me for an obscenely low amount of money so my suspicions were always there. However, the cell tested good today and the...

3 week old Hayward Super Pump 3/4hp...What the Heck!!

    Five Way Multiport Handle Troubleshooting

Hey guys, my Pentair FNS five way multiport handle is wonky. I can rotate the handle fairly easily, but once I select something, the handle is just loose and it doesn't lock down into the notch for whatever I selected. Any ideas?

Hayward SuperPump Leaking At Joint of Motor and Pump

Is this an easy thing to service or do I need to call a pro in is my question. I'm assuming there's some seal in there that is causing this that's gone bad. Looks like I've got unions on both in and out flows so I should be able to disconnect and troubleshoot. TIA

    Tri-Chlor pucks and CYA

Just a question, but what is it about the pucks that make the CYA raise with constant usage? Is there actually cyanuric acid added to the pucks, is it a byproduct of the chemical reaction of the pucks or what? In other words, what is the mechanism that makes the CYA in your pool rise when...

7 inches of rain in Tulsa, OK - what do i do

Here in Edmond, we got about 6". Pool was sparkling yesterday with FC around 6 and today after draining twice which is always fun in the pouring rain, I was down to about 1.5. I had a bag of shock I threw in to get the chlorine back up and I also added about a 1/2 gallon of bleach. Now, I'm...

Best practices when using a Chlorinator?

Welcome to the wonderful world of pool ownership! While I'm new here on this site as well, this is my 5th year of taking care of my pool. I too have a Rainbow auto chlorinator the only difference being mine is plumbed in-line with the output of the filter. I am switching this year to the TFP...
