Florida Build: Project Complete...Officially Pool Owners!

You are so right Kim... After the pool was filled, I watched on camera as the pool service guy on week 1 and week 2, dumped a whole bunch of chemicals in my pool (we got pool service for 2 weeks compliments of the PB). I realize this now to be muriatic acid, but it looked like the container held...

Thanks for checking in! Yes I have started a pool log. I have been testing daily when I can, sometimes even twice a day...and I am surprised at how much the levels fluctuate. The day I posted my PH at 7.5 and FC at 5...by the next day the PH fell to 6.8 and the FC was at 8! I turned the deck...

Florida Build: Project Complete...Officially Pool Owners!

Hallelujah! PH 7.5 and FC 5. I think the PH was higher than 8.2, because it took more muriatic acid than pool math calculated. I also confirmed with the utility company that the pool holds approximately 12k gallons. The water looks much clearer too. I can see all the way to the bottom at night...

Florida Build: Project Complete...Officially Pool Owners!

Thanks for checking on me Kim! I wasn't able to test yesterday because I didn't feel like going back out to get the muriatic acid. As soon as I get off work today, I will be swinging by home depot to get the acid and stock up on bleach. I will keep you posted! - - - Updated - - - I have 2...

Florida Build: Project Complete...Officially Pool Owners!

Thank you! I tested again when I read your replies. That was about 3 hours later. Now my FC is 1 and my PH is still 8.2. From what I am reading it seems that my PH is too high which can affect the chlorine...am I understanding this correctly? Should I add muriatic acid to try and lower the PH...

Wow that pool math calculator is awesome! I guess I need to start stocking up on bleach! I added the required amount. How soon do I test again? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I needed Hugs, Ice Cream and Chocolate Cake dipped in Chocolate!!! But jagger2005 helped to calm my nerves...:lovetfp: Kim...I definitely had a meltdown moment last night, but today really wasn't that bad. I think I may be actually able to do this, with your help of course  So I...

Re: Florida Build: Fresh Meat :-) Bingo again! I ran the CYA test in the evening...it was still light out but the sun was going down, and I did turn my back to it. I guess maybe it wasn't bright enough. Thanks for the tips! Very helpful! Will check in tomorrow hopefully with more accurate results.

Re: Florida Build: Fresh Meat :-) You are so right! I ran the wrong test for the CH  For the CYA...I did that one 3 times and the dot all 3 times disappeared almost immediately...at the same spot every time. So today I got used to the terminology, got a feel for the different test...

Re: Florida Build: Fresh Meat :-) Okay Kim...I did the tests, and my confidence level is not that high right now. I just might be the first person that you may think twice about teaching. For the FC/CC the pool water would not change color when I added the powder. Am I doing something wrong...

Re: Florida Build: Fresh Meat :-) Thanks Kim! I updated my signature with the test kit info. I will test the fill water and the pool water today when I get home. I have been noticing quite a bit of plaster dust every time I brush. I am assuming this would affect the PH? I guess my chemistry...

Re: Florida Build: Fresh Meat :-) Thanks ShantellyLace! I was going for a tropical look and feel. I'm loving everything so far...however, I did purchase a pool heater recently. It's so hard to look at the pool on these nice sunny days we've been getting and then dip our toes in and it's...

    Pool permitting

The answer is...It depends. It depends on your county, as well as your PB. I signed my contract in November 2016. My PB had to wait on the screen enclosure company to provide them with the engineering plans. The screen company of course was not very "speedy", and then throw the holidays into the...

Congrats on your pool! Permits depend on your city. On the treasure coast the average time is approximately 4 weeks. I received mine in 25 days. I hope this helps! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Florida Build: Fresh Meat :-) Thanks! At first I was going to go with the standard white gem plaster, which is why the grout lines are bone white. I decided to upgrade the plaster to bay pearl after the tile was already grouted, but the PB assured me that the tile/grout would still blend...

Re: Florida Build: Fresh Meat :-) Thank you. The screen issue is resolved, they came out and tightened up the bolts and caulked the area. Apparently they "overlooked" that part at the end. The enclosure is under warranty for a year, so if I have to:whip: I will! - - - Updated - - - Thank...

    Vero Beach, Fl build

Hi Neighbor  I'm not too far away from you in PSL. I am in the home stretch of my first pool build, and between TFP and now some experience under my belt, I have learned quite a bit. I'm in no way a TFP expert, but everyday I am learning just enough to be dangerous! Although there are many...
