    Discoloration on wall

I was able to dive down and take a look today, still working a lot. Anyhow, I don’t think it’s algae. Pretty sure my pebbletec is failing. Then googling I actually think I may have pebble sheen. But with that said, if it’s flaking and I can see small pits, anyone know an average cost to...

ok cool, so you mean dive down and do these tests? for the Cal-hypo, I shouldn't just sprinkle it across the pool then. Just target that spot.

    Discoloration on wall

How would I perform these tests? Do I need to drain it to apply the Vitamin C, or just dive down and try to rub it on there? Or are you just recommending for the cal-hypo to just add it like a normal shock?

    Discoloration on wall

Hello all, here's an update. I've been baby sitting his thing since my last post on Friday. I've kept my Chlorine levels around 8-10, black spot's are slightly lighter but it could be in my head. I am losing about .5ppm of chlorine a day, not sure if that's still meaning I need to keep my level...

Thanks for the reply. I’m running the pump all night again and decided to raise my chlorine level based on that chart. I’ll test it again after 24 hours and see how things look and where my chemistry is.

    grout lines at skimmer inlet.

I have recently found that I'm losing water at my skimmers. Basically where the wall tiles meet up at the skimmer. I've been researching what grout or caulk I should use to fix this, since I'm losing water there. Any recommendations?

What kind of Algae does this look like?

@duraleigh yes the darker areas. Those haven't always been there and certain spots are raised and slimy(is how you would describe it). The ones in there now are about 4 years old and have some wear, I have another set on hand as well. I just wasn't sure if it is "algae" that I wouldn't be able...

What kind of Algae does this look like?

I'm familiar with SLAM, I had read some other articles saying it might be black algae or whatever and I'd have to Shock, clean the filter, then continue shocking. So should I just replace my filters before I start the SLAM process?

    Tank expanding

What's up guys, so I just noticed while doing some maintenance on my pool, that when I turn my pump on, my cartridge tank slightly expands, and shutting it off, it returns to where it was. My pressure seems normal about 20-21. I've never seen it do this before, any ideas?

    Pool Automation Systems WiFi

Yeah I'm not big on switching I'm mainly curious about automation systems. Something I can install and maintain myself. I like the Z wave controllers, but that requires a hub, which probably isn't a big deal.. At first glace the AquaLink seems nice b/c of the big name and mine has lasted 13 yrs...

    Pool Automation Systems WiFi

Hey everyone, I have about a 15 yr old Jandy automation system(I think its a RS Aqualink). Anyhow, we are a saltwater pool and I just had new flagstone coping installed. The pool company wanted me to do the switch from salt to straight up tablet(and rework my automation), but they wanted like a...

Best Coping for a Saltwater pool

Thanks Jim! Do you think sealing new flagstone is the way to go? Travertine seems to me to be more porous so that was another confusing point to this topic for me. I was told flagstone is porous and the salt get's in there and eats the stone away, but if travertine is more so then I would guess...

Best Coping for a Saltwater pool

Hey All, I was wondering what the opinions on coping are for a Saltwater pool. My pool was built in 2006 and has been saltwater the entire time(according to previous home owner). However he doesn't remember if the coping(flagstone) was ever sealed. Anyhow, the flag stone over his last year...
