    Intex Ultraframe Year 4

Well, it has held up another year :) The only thing I needed to replace was a solar cover and the O ring for the top of the filter housing. This will be our 4th season. Goes to show that if you take care of something it can serve you well. Weird thing this year though...the fill water has a...

    HELLLPPPPP!

I was tired tonight and not thinking straight---put in too much CYA. I immediatley realized my mistake when I went to write the numbers down and took the sock out of the pool. Knew I needed to halve the amount (not fun when wet--a complete freakin' mess!) Put the sock back in the pool. Now...

    Using salt without a SWG

I read on a thread somewhere on here that you can add salt to a pool even if not using a SWG. I'd like to use salt just so the water "feels" better. I know what salt to use and how, but I do not have any idea how to test for salt levels. Is there a specific test kit?

    Filling The Pool

So far so good on year 2 with our Intex Ultra Frame. In the process of filling as I type and it is nice and warm, about 80 degrees. Suppposed to be in the low 70s tomorrow. The one thing I simply cannot remember is if I am supposed to add some bleach as I fill it even though I can't run run...

    A HUGE THANK YOU!

This past week we emptied and took down our pool. Disassembling it was so easy my husband and I just kept giving each others looks as if to say, "This is going too well." I was a little sad to take it down, but felt such great satisfaction about the past season. We used the BBB method and the...

    UGH!! High Chlorine

Since we put it up I have treated it like a baby in regards to monitoring chemicals. I have managed very well with a 6 way HTH kit as I am out of work for the summer and couldn't rationalize the TF 100 (which I am def getting next year) To make a long story short our pool has been very nicely...

    Cause of chlorine loss

OK, the temps have been in the high 80's-low 90's, humid, sunny. Had a higher than normal bather load over the holiday weekend but normal since then (with the possibility a little kid peed in it). Before, I was losing 0 to maybe 1ppm chlorine. Now I am losing about 1-2 during the day (I add...

    Test Kit

We put up our pool recently and it has been just a terrific experience! My husband takes care of the vacuuming/pump/filter issues and I take care of the chemistry. I started off buying an HTH 6 way (cl, pH, TA, CH, CYA, Bromine) at Walmart and it seems to keep me in the know. I prefer testing...

    Sticky

Got out of the pool tonight and I felt kinda sticky. These are my readings: pH 7.4 cl 4 TA 180 Cya 45 I have been trying to keep my cl at 5-6 (based on the CYA chart) The water is crystal clear and otherwise felt great. Is it my new pool owner's imagination or what?

    Bilt Mor pool Ladder/Steps

Does anyone know if you can use this type of pool steps with and Intex Ultra Frame Pool? The instructions include something about securing with screws to the tops reail of the pool but wasn't sure if this was a must. There is one on Craigslist for sale and am looking for a resin ladder as the...

    Water readings

About 10 days after filling (and after reading and re-reading EVERYTHING from Pool School) this is what I have: FC 5 pH 7.0 TA 200 (down from 300) CYA 55/60 I have driven my pH down with muriatic acid in order to get the pH down. Am aerating to get it back up and then will use acid again to...

    Proper place to add chemicals

What is the proper way to add chemicals to the pool? Do I add in the skimmer (I know not to do that with acid) or in front of the return jet? When I added dichlor last night, I tried to dissolve it in a bucket of water but it didn't really dissolve. It just sunk to the bottom of the bucket...

    Total Alkalinity

The pool is up and running as of yesterday. Started my 4 day shock process last night. Tested this am and Cl 2 pH 7.4 TA 300 Added liquid chlorine per the pool calculator. Pointed my return up to help aerate. I have read so much that my eyeballs are spinning in my head! Can someone...

    Polyquat

We got the pool up and running. It is full. Added chlorine and then some Borax to bring the pH up from 7.1. In Pool School, I read to add Polyquat weekly. Is that the same as the algacide you find at Walmart or so i need to get it at a pool store? Also, is it imperative that I add it today...

    Pool Ladder

Ok, I knew off the bat to: - upgrade my pool filter and sell the inefficient one in the pool kit -buy a solar cover -buy heavy duty tarps to use in addition to the crappy one in the kit. I also knew that we would need to do something about a ladder. We are hoping to hold off until next year...

    Perimeter around the new pool

We just put up our Intex Ultra Frame. We removed the sod and spent much time leveling the ground. Bought 3 12 ml tarps and duct taped them together to make 1 large piece, then put the cheapy Intex tarp on top of that. We have about 10" extra around most of the pool as we wanted extra room...

    Newbie Needs Advice

Ok, so after spending all the money on stuff you need to make the "affordable" pool work, I bought an HTH 6 way test kit. Decided to check the water chemistry from the source from which we will be filling it (the hose). Chlorine- no reading pH 7.6/7.7 (uh...HtH apparently does not believe in...

    Intex ladder

Have been doing ALOT of reading as I am a pool newbie. Is it necessary to have something under the ladder legs on the inside of the pool? I have seen mats sold to save the liner. Are there any cheaper alternatives?

    Mama B's Intex Pool

I am nervous, too! My husband is taking care of the installation of our new Intex Ultra Frame 16ft x 48 in pool. But, I am the one responsible for the water chemistry! After having read a lot, I chose to sell the dinky Intex 1500 gph pump and bought an Intex 2500 gph pump. Sold the dinky one...

Leveling the Ground for Intex Ultra Frame Pool

Just bought one of these. I would like step by step instructions as to how I go about leveling the ground. Intex specifically says NOT to use sand to level the ground. I know that I need to take earth from the high side but am not sure how to go about doing it and making sure it is level. I...
