    Pump wiring

The Intelliflo has great options for programming but it has no ability to control the Intellichlor, heater, or booster. None of the above can run while the pump isn't running. I could use the builtin programming on the pump, and then another synced timer for the other devices, but then I'm...

    Pump wiring

I finally have all my pool pad plumbing redone and now its time to wire it. I have an Intelliflo XF pump, Polaris PB4 booster pump, Intellichlor IC60 SWG, and Raypak 406 heater. I have a 40 amp circuit to my pool pad. My plan was to use the PE153 (PE153 - Intermatic ) I was going to use...

Differences between suction side piping configurations

I'm definitely a fan of valves and unions. The lack thereof is a big reason I'm redoing this whole thing. I have 3 2-way Jandy Neverlube's ready to go, one for each suction line. I was planning to put union's on the pool side of them just above waterline. I was considering a 4th 2-way...

Differences between suction side piping configurations

Great, thank you. The first option is going to work out the best, but I was worried it would end up pulling more water from one skimmer (A) vs another (C).

Differences between suction side piping configurations

Hi all, As I watch my pool turn from green to really dark green I'm finally ready to start getting my equipment pad put back together. While laying out the valves for the suction side I started wondering if there would be any difference in flow between my three pipes based on how the pipes...

    When to replace sand filter

Great to know, thank you. Now I just need to decide if I want to keep it. If it was near end-of-life I was thinking of the Pentair Quad-DE... and now that I've been thinking I'd be getting that, it's hard to unthink it!

    When to replace sand filter

I have a Pentair TA-100D sand filter that I am guessing is 15 years old based on the age of some of the other equipment I've replaced. The multiport valve is shot so at a minimum I will need to replace that. I'm wondering if it's worth replacing the valve (looks to be around $200) vs...

Concrete equipment pad sloped or level

I am in the middle of redoing our pool equipment pad and piping. The new pad (about 10' x 6') is about to be poured and a question came up that I hadn't considered - what should the fall be to aid in drainage? My contractor is suggesting 1/4" per foot. It seems part of the point of the pad...

    Is this PVC?

In the second picture from left to right is Skimmer 1, Main Drain, Skimmer 2, Return to eyeballs. The skimmer pipes transition from PVC 40 to PVC 80 out of frame of the picture. The main drain and the return both use this black pipe with the steel hose clamps. In the first picture you can...

    Is this PVC?

    1. Why would they have used that? (It looks like it is used for the return line and the main drain. The two skimmers are Sch 80 PVC) 2. Is it bad? Not that I can do anything about it, just want to learn more about it. 3. When I cut it back and make a new connection to PVC, is replicating the...

    Is this PVC?

I'm re-plumbing the equipment pad of a pool I inherited a few years ago. Pulled up the deck boards to get to more of the piping and found a connection I didn't understand. What I would have assumed was PVC pipe coming from the pool connects to what I know to be PVC pipe heading to the pad, but...

Increasing motor HP for additional GPM for heater

Which Intelliflo would I need? And could you help me understand what role HP plays? If increasing it doesn't increase flow, I don't understand why you wouldn't always just buy the cheapest pump with the lowest HP. What is the impeller? Is that apart of the motor, or the pump?

Increasing motor HP for additional GPM for heater

So are you saying that I should be looking at RPMs and not HP? Could you explain how HP relates to pumps motors and flow? If changing the motor to a higher HP doesn't increase flow, then it seems like it would follow that changing the motor to a lower HP wouldn't decrease the flow. So why...

Increasing motor HP for additional GPM for heater

Hi everyone. I used this site extensively last year for the first time and using the methods and advice here kept my pool the cleanest I've ever seen it. That's after several years of using a PB and local chains and having moderate results at best. So, thanks! Now for my first post... My...
