Persistently leaking connection to Pentair Triton TR 60

Hi there, yes it's been an interesting experience. I've found the opposite to you - having replaced the sand filter body, the old dome and o ring are working fine! I'm trying to work out how I can turn the old filter body into a garden feature...

Persistently leaking connection to Pentair Triton TR 60

Oh dear, more drama. I had the pump running for 5 minutes in every 20 while the air temp was -4C (24.8F) overnight and -2C (28.4F) during the day. Last year I had the heater coming on as well but this time as already mentioned the heater was not working. I came home one evening and thought it...

Persistently leaking connection to Pentair Triton TR 60

Thank you for this tip. I can't see this specified in the manual but I have the heating engineer coming out to check the heater and I'll ask him. Thanks again.

Persistently leaking connection to Pentair Triton TR 60

Sorry, the dome blew off so quickly I didn't get a chance to get my phone out... More seriously I have had a close look at the thread in the last 2 hours and I really can't see any damage to it. I have just screwed the dome back on with 6 rounds of PTFE tape on the thread so I'm not keen to take...

Persistently leaking connection to Pentair Triton TR 60

Hi Bperry, I'd secured the lid fully hand tight before it blew off. I was amazed that the threads had not been completely wrecked. However the lid still screws on fully tight. To my mind, if the thread is good enough to screw the lid on tightly, and the O ring is new and properly greased, and...

Persistently leaking connection to Pentair Triton TR 60

Well, I thought I was on top of this issue. Having replaced the bulkhead fittings the leak had reduced to a tolerable drip.... Unfortunately I then committed a cardinal sin. Set the multiport valve to backwash and turned on the pump. I had not opened the backwash pipe stopcock. The water...

Persistently leaking connection to Pentair Triton TR 60

Thank you both for advice. I had not realised the bulkhead ring had a curvature to it. I'll check that. Also I'll get a couple of new bulkhead nuts. I didn't mention in the original post that I had no tools big enough to grip them so ended up using a large G-clamp to grip them! Having read...

Persistently leaking connection to Pentair Triton TR 60

Happy Christmas! Any help much appreciated. I had to replace my multiport on my TR 60. In removing the old one I loosened the bulkhead nuts. So I thought it would be good opportunity to replace the bulkhead O rings. And while I was at it take all the sand out of the filter and give it a wash...

    Multiport leaking

Hi All, My multiport is dripping and it looks like there are 2 tiny cracks in the body. I'm guessing the only option is to replace the multiport, but if anyone has any other solutions please let me know. Thank you for your advice! Video of the problem: [

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

Thank you for this advice. Forgive the wry smile. Here in England we are not blessed with extended periods of warmth. My pool temp has not been higher than the daily peak temp for all but about seven days this summer!

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

I think this is another frustrating issue with pool care in the UK. Muriatic acid is not easy to come by and isn't available from pool stores on line. However it is available from industrial chemical providers so I will try to get hold of it from them. Thank you very much for this advice.

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

It seems to be taking a lot of acid to correct the TA. I have put in about 4kg of pH-. The pH is down from 8.2 to 7.6. I have a home made aerator going 12 hours per day. But the TA is stuck on 200. Keep going with the pH- I guess.

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

Thank you @Mdragger88 that is a good point about the pH. I will need to use 7 tablets to get the CYA up to around 20 and that will have a significant effect on the pH. It looks like I will have to get a tub of CYA. No sign of algae though so that's a win.

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

Thank you for your collective wisdom. I'm going away for 10 days soon so I'll get some solid chlorine blocks (Swimming Pool Large Chlorine Tablets 1kg) to boost the CYA level up to 20-30 ppm and provide sufficient chlorine while I'm away. Thanks again, really helpful advice.

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

As predicted by @Newdude the results are back from the pool store. CYA level is 0. The CYA calculator at Free Chlorine and Cyanuric Acid Relationship Explained does not offer the option for a CYA of 0. But for CYA 20 it advises a FC level of 10. Which is what I used to calculate the chlorine...

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

I have just realised I need to get the chlorine up to 24ppm for the SLAM process if my CYA is 60. I will get the CYA checked tomorrow as it may now be lower than it was in 2019(!)- it is not possible to get the recommended testing kit in the UK so I have to take a water sample to the local pool...

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

Thank you both for your advice. I haven't checked the CYA for about 4 years. It was 60 then. I haven't used anything other than liquid chlorine since 2016 so I figured it wasn't going to change much. More significantly I hadn't tested anything other than the free chlorine since 2018 as the pH...

Damaged pool cover edge collecting algae

I would be grateful for help with green algae. Small amounts have appeared along the grout of the floor of the deep end of the pool. I keep the FC (90% of the time) at 3-5 ppm. The pool water is clear. The pump runs for 4 hours each day. I have a thermal insulation cover made of 600 micron...

Copper fittings on an aluminum roller

I replaced a pool cover and its fixings last February. This week one of the straps securing the cover to the roller came free. There has been a build up of a mixture of white paste and compacted powder under each of the copper fixings. And the underlying aluminum/aluminium on the roller has...
