    Pool Slide Question

Thank you for your response. I just switched home owners insurance and the adjuster had to come out and survey my property before agreeing to the insurance coverage. I never thought about it too much but the adjuster did see the pool and the slide and said it all looked good. I kind of felt...

    Pool Slide Question

Hi All! Thanks to these forums I like to think I've become somewhat of a pool expert... at least with my own pool. When I first bought this house, there was a Rogue pool slide with poles cemented into the foundation. Several years ago, one of the areas for the slide jets broke and completely...

    Pool renovation/decking/resurfacing questions

Hi All! First I want to say that these forums have been invaluable to me as a new pool owner 5 years ago. I remember my first pool opening took me almost 2-3 weeks because I just couldn't get anything working. Now I'm on day 2 and the pool is nearing a ready state. Anyways my main set of...

Which robotic cleaner for sand & debris

Just to follow-up, I just got my S300 and it has done a great job for its first cleaning. Thanks all for the recommendations!

Which robotic cleaner for sand & debris

So I looked into the suggestions here. It seems difficult to find the S300 in this area. I don't see any 'authorized vendors' within a 50 mile radius. I also looked into the prowler 930 and I may have found a location that sells it. Thank you to everyone that chimed in here, I appreciate it!

Which robotic cleaner for sand & debris

Hi All, It's been a while since I've asked a question. After all the help I received my first years with the pool, it has been getting better. I am frankly tired of the brush vacuum routine taking a ton of time and would like to get a robotic cleaner. The problem is, which one? General...

SLAM levels of Chlorine water on Grass

Hi all, So I know this question has been answered before in various fashions... But never quite in regards to "how much chlorine is too much for grass". So that's my question if you have backwash water that has about 10-14 ppm chlorine in it, is that too much? A general gut feeling? Thanks...

    Backwashing plumbing

but when you backwash the cellulose you also backwash chlorinated water right? Doesn't that kill your grass? - - - Updated - - - . You're right that I am using DE right now. I'm debating on switching back to cellulose. I do have two dogs and that would be bad for them to breath it in. I...

    Backwashing plumbing

Hi All, I bought a house that has a DE filter and I was wondering, where does everyone's backwash water go? The previous owner used to eject it into the street which to my understanding isn't exactly legal. I've since had a couple of sump holes put in my back yard and backwash into that...

    DE Filter and Algae question

That sounds like a great idea. I'll give that a try at the end of the season. I had to start the pool season late this year because I had to wait for parts and pump issues.... But now I just have to clean up extra because of the later start.

    DE Filter and Algae question

I'm adding it morning and twice in the evening. This weekend I'm hoping to baby the pool more.

    DE Filter and Algae question

Chlorine level is dropping as quickly overnight or the time I'm at work. It's definitely not able to maintain shock level yet unfortunately. CYA is at about 40 right now and I also have my cover on to try and minimize the chlorine loss due to sun.

    DE Filter and Algae question

Thanks! I must have selective memory. I didn't remember it being that crazy last year... but it must have been worse, last year the water was a disaster. So I'll just keep backwashing/recharging and hoping it gets better soon enough with some focused attention this weekend. I appreciate all...

    DE Filter and Algae question

I hope this picture is good enough. I was in a rush to take it while chlorinating my pool.

    DE Filter and Algae question

So I went ahead and did a full clean again. I noticed that in all honesty, the grids really weren't that dirty. But I cleaned everything off, closed it up, and sent it on its way. I noticed after only 20 minutes my pressure had gone up 10 psi. I mean my pool is dirty but not that dirty. I...

    DE Filter and Algae question

So for cellulose I've left it in for several weeks without backwashing. The filter would steadily rise in pressure after a certain duration and was impossible without opening the filter to clean it out. When open, you can see that the filter was only moderately dirty but the cellulose clung to...

    DE Filter and Algae question

Hi All, So this is year 2 of battling my pool. Year 1 was way worse, but year 2 has still gotten off to a rocky start. To start the season off I've performed a deep clean of all the grids and they looked great. I noticed there were a couple of "ribs" broken in the grids, but they were...

    Cellulose fiber in DE filter

Thanks for your expertise! I really appreciate it. I think for the rest of the season I'll continue with cellulose fiber but will definitely consider DE more in the future.

    Cellulose fiber in DE filter

I think my Pentair is also oversized for my pool, from a full-clean/recharge my filter will have no appreciable change in pressure for 3-4 weeks. I usually backwash once I achieve that magic 25% that I read about here (so usually when I achieve about 22 from a start of 19). This can take...

    Cellulose fiber in DE filter

Hi All, I have a few questions regarding Cellulose fiber replacement in a DE filter. I have a Pentair FNS+ 60 DE filter in which I'm using a Cellulose fiber replacement. Every 3 or so weeks my filter pressure runs high and backwashing becomes futile. As time goes on, backwashing seems to...

    High-altitude Chlorination

I read the article about side air leaks and am convinced that is the issue. My skimmer doesn't have a flap and I haven't noticed any whirlpooling effects. I tried the water test on the PVC that connects directly to the pump and noticed that there was an air leak there. I unscrewed that...

    High-altitude Chlorination

Thank you all for your posts. I had a similar sentiment after reading all the articles about leslies and liquid chlorine. I'm in the process of getting a test kit that you guys mention and I will post the results from the tests. Leslies also ran a test on my water a few days ago with the...

    High-altitude Chlorination

I'm new to owning a pool and have been doing quite a bit of reading on TFP. I'm currently in a battle with a swamp as many of the posts here have also said. I have been trying to bring up the FC level by using the Leslies power powder shock. The lady at leslies told me that liquid chlorine...
