Can not keep chlorine in pool

So I haven't had to post here since going to this method of maintaining my pool a few years back. But for some reason this year I am having trouble getting chlorine stable. Pool is crystal clear. At 7am my test results were: FC - 6.5 CC - 0.5 PH - 7.8 TA - 50 This evening I retested at 8pm...

    1st year TFP method

Our first year using the TFP method is quickly coming to an end. We usually have to close up the pool early (1st week in September) because of how I work. What an experience it has been. Saved a ton of money, learned a lot about pool chemistry, and have had a crystal clear pool the entire...

    Muriatic Acid and Pump Pressure

It was a brand new pump and filter in May of this year. I have only back washed it 4 times all summer (after finding TFPC). So I have not opened it up this year yet. Was planning on cleaning it at the end of the season before storing for the year.

    Muriatic Acid and Pump Pressure

Im adding the MA to the front of the return in a very small stream into the flow. It is a Hayward DE Filter. - - - Updated - - - Duraleigh, it is when I add Muriatic Acid that I see a spike in my pressure of my pump over the next 24 hours.

    Muriatic Acid and Pump Pressure

So my TA was up to about 200 at one point this year. I have slowly dropped it by adding MA and then letting PH creep back up then add more MA. It is now down about 90 and am fine with that. But every time I add MA to the pool my pump pressure goes up one the next 24 hours to a point where it...

Chlorine loss through out the day

Yeah I have done OCLT many times and the most I lose over nigh is 1 ppm and most nights it was only .5. The last time I did an OCLT was Monday because were away all weekend and had someone adding 2 quarts of chlorine for us per day while we were gone. Low and behold when I tested Monday...

Chlorine loss through out the day

So I usually lose between 1 - 5 ppm of chlorine in any given day depending on sun and temp, over night I only lose max of .5 ppm. Is this normal? We do not keep our pool covered although we do have a solar cover just never use it, and will using the solar cover slow down the chlorine loss...

    First year TFP Method

At the opening of my pool this year we had a green swamp. So did what I have always done and started "shocking" my pool, adding algicide and sweeping trying to get my pool clean. I took my water to the local pool place and they sold me a $20 jug of phosphate remover. This is when i decided to...

    CYA loss

What is a normal CYA Loss over a week? I lost 10 ppm from last week to this week. I did a slam last week and everything is great right now. Only losing about 2-3 ppm of chlorine a day. Just curious if 10 CYA loss is normal. It was 45 last week now it is at 35. Thanks

Crystal clear pool but maybe algae problem

Crystal clear pool but maybe algae problem

Not trying an OCLT, I have failed that many times now. Starting to SLAM because I am losing about 2ppm overnight. Pool is crystal clear just can't pass OCLT.

Crystal clear pool but maybe algae problem

She already calls me a mad scientist when I am testing the water! hahaha. Before this year we would just have test strips. But now I have a test kit, she gets a kick out of it. But she also loves how clean and clear the pool is.

Crystal clear pool but maybe algae problem

Well that is good to know. I didn't realize it would be safe to swim with a FC level that high. Im going to have a tough time keeping it elevated during the week when I am at work. I can add in the morning and in the evening. And check more on the weekends. Will this work?

Crystal clear pool but maybe algae problem

Yes I know this. trying to convince my wife that I need to raise the chlorine that high and her not being able to use the pool for the next week is a realllll hard sell when she goes out there and it is crystal clear.

Crystal clear pool but maybe algae problem

Yes, I took the test right after the sun was no longer hitting my pool and took it in the morning before the sun started hitting my pool.

Crystal clear pool but maybe algae problem

So I have been following the TFP method for over a week and my pool has never been so sparkling clear. One problem if I sweep the pool today by tomorrow evening there will be like a white sediment that settles into the small crevices on the bottom of the pool. I have done the OCLT a couple...
