    Removing Baja Deck umbrella sleeve

Yeah - for two reasons we will at a minimum take them down in winter - the wind being one - although we WERE in fact enjoying the pool when this occurred - you cant really predict the dust devils, but more importantly we don't want the poles to rot/rust again and cause this problem. Even the...

    Removing Baja Deck umbrella sleeve

Got lucky - was able to remove the inside pole remnants without damaging the sleeve or the pool. My guess is I WOULD have had to drain the baja deck and then put some lubricant in there or something. As a side not - my neighbor down the street got video of my umbrella a hundred or so feet...

    Removing Baja Deck umbrella sleeve

OK - so learned an important lesson today - do not leave your umbrella in the sleeve in the baja deck forever! We actually have 4 sleeves - 3 on the cooldeck and then one in the water in the 6" baja deck. Dust devil came in today and pulled two of our umbrellas up so high neighbors could...

    Calcium removal from Grout

Thanks - I was - once I had good luck with the stone I used it mostly - just a couple of areas I used the acid on.....was hoping it would be effective on the grout.....but doesn't look promising.

    Calcium removal from Grout

OK - thanks....I think the stone works well without damage on the tile itself. But was hoping to do something with the grout. I would bleach it but it is a darker color so that wont work...

    Calcium removal from Grout

Didn't see a forum for maintenance issues other than sort of this one. I recently posted and learned about calcium deposits. Today I made good progress with a pummice stone and bio dex 300 on the tiles themselves - but the acid didn't seem to do well on my test tile with the GROUT - or it...

    Calcium? Solutions?

By the way the puck holder in my profile pick was just in there from when the builder completed construction. As soon as I got control went to TFP practices.

    Calcium? Solutions?

TF-100 and liquid chlorine. I am not a total newbie but this is my first plaster pool....had large above ground in past (as you can see from old posts). Obviously just starting to increase chlorine levels pretty significantly as we enter 100+ and sun season. Where do I find out how to...

    Calcium? Solutions?

Hi, So, pool completed in December in Arizona. Winter monitoring went pretty smoothly - low chemical usage and things stayed within target ranges - once a week brushing etc. Once in a while PH seemed to get a tiny bit high - but never over 8. This week I started noticing (although in...

First test results - not a total newbie but feel like it.

Thank you for the quick response. I will email Becky. Can you ballpark me at all on how much Chlorine I am likely to go through here with the new pool? I stock up when I can so I don't have to run to get it all the time.....especially when Home depot gives bulk pricing - just paid 3.08 per...

First test results - not a total newbie but feel like it.

SO, I ve been on TFP for a while but haven't needed help of late. We had an above ground at our old house that once I got in the groove, literally put 10 oz of Chlorine in a day (sometimes more in the AZ summer), and a bit of CYA once in awhile and it stayed perfect all year long. TFP was...

    Replacing Pump hose

Just a quick update on this - got the replacement hose on Friday. Took about 1 minute to replace with VERY minimal water loss even without stuffing anything. And as suspected by PV2 above - that small leak did cause the pressure problem in the pump. It is all good now also. Thanks!

    Replacing Pump hose

Thanks - I thought there might be caps - but I ll probably just yank as long as there is no harm in doing so. Any ideas on the pump? Should I backwash it or anything? I am surprised that this little leak would cause this much issue in the pump - but my robot doesnt have enough to move...

    Replacing Pump hose

SO, been awhile - that is because thanks to you folks here our pool has been in place about 18 months in the AZ heat and winter with no troubles at all - pour a little chlorine in every day and done! THANKS! As a reminder - 18x9 Intex Metal Frame. But, finally our first little hiccup. I...

Intex Pool Cleaner - Only Moves One Direction

Thanks for the bump and the attempted response - yeah - I have not taken it apart - and probably wont bother. Pool is covered now - most likely until spring - and since they aren't that expensive I ll probably just by another one next spring. ETA - I mean I haven't taken the gear box apart...

Intex Pool Cleaner - Only Moves One Direction

Hi, SO, our first summer with pool is coming to a close. As I have stated in the past, since we are in AZ I am going to try and just cover and leave the pool up over the winter. I am ready to cover it - but I am having a small problem. Our Intex auto pool cleaner (robot) is only going a...

Small Leak at Drain Valve Plug

Thanks - Intex sells the replacement for 2.00 also - although I did have to pay shipping. I am just curious as to why it was leaking. I mean isn't the idea is that you can take that cap all the way off and hook up a hose to drain without it leaking until you pull the internal plug?

Small Leak at Drain Valve Plug

SO, first little problem in awhile (other than the dust which is all cleared up now). When I installed the pool in the spring one of the "Drain Valve Covers" had a crack in the side and so it would not secure completely. I thought at the time this was going to be a problem until I got the...

SO - This Is What A 60MPH AZ Dust Storm Does To Your Pool Water!

Just a quick final update to this one - after about 4 days of 12-16 hours of filter/backwash I got about 90% clear - but still a bit cloudy with the really fine stuff. Cheated and got some clarifier - I couldn't think of anything else. I did use it sparingly but it did the trick! Back to...

SO - This Is What A 60MPH AZ Dust Storm Does To Your Pool Water!

Update - 36 hours later and I can just barely see the little squares from the pool liner on the floor - but the water itself definitely has improved. Much more of a turquoise color now (from the liner reflection) - than the black it was. I actually think the pump has only been running...

SO - This Is What A 60MPH AZ Dust Storm Does To Your Pool Water!

SO - just to get an idea where I stand I turned off the pump overnight (I wasn't going to wake up in the middle of the night to backwash anyway!) and let everything settle. Its better than I thought at this point. I could pretty clearly see the bottom and there wasn't large amounts of "gunk"...

SO - This Is What A 60MPH AZ Dust Storm Does To Your Pool Water!

OK - thanks - Leslie's (I hate them but) - carries the DE - but not sure if our Casa Grande store stocks it. If I do get some - just pour it in as directed and backwash frequently? Also - should I be testing etc. as normal - or just make sure I keep some decent chlorine in there until it...

SO - This Is What A 60MPH AZ Dust Storm Does To Your Pool Water!

OK - so given I only have the garden hose version - I just have to keep back washing and filtering right? And you are right - that was a good one last night!! - - - Updated - - - Would getting my net in there and scooping up some of the larger stuff do anything to speed up the process?

SO - This Is What A 60MPH AZ Dust Storm Does To Your Pool Water!

Had one of our larger dust storms in Central AZ last night - came up on us too quickly to cover the pool, and frankly when they are this bad the dust gets in everywhere!! Picture won't post straight - but you get the idea - BLACK AS CAN BE!!! 12 hours later - some progress - but still...

Intex Fountain - Its tooooo strong

Hi, OK - finally getting around to attaching the Intex LED fountain - simple enough right? Except that since I upgraded to a bigger pump to solve the issues I have posted about before - when attaching it close enough to the return hose from the pump it sprays all the way OVER our 9'...
