    Intermatic Timer

Good info. I guess after 20 years these things just start to fall apart. I am getting good longevity out of everything. I will figure out what is wrong with the old one out of curiosity once I remove all the wiring.

    Intermatic Timer

My particular enclosure doesn't allow for the timing mechanism to just tip out from the top. There are tabs holding the bottom of the mechanism and literally a 1/2" of space near the top. Sliding up and out doesn't seem to work. I ended up cracking the plastic tabs but I have a new enclosure...

    Intermatic Timer

Ok, looks like I am going to have to disassemble this a bit more. I found a link from an old thread which likely includes the process.

    Intermatic Timer

Thanks. I did not even notice that. No gears are turning. I guess that faint clicking noise is some other part of the system that is still running. I'll see if Pinch-a-penny has a new motor for a reasonable price. Thanks again

    Intermatic Timer

Hello, After Irma, I can only manually turn the pool pump on and off. It appears the dial is not moving but I do hear the normal ticking sound. Would the ticking mean the motor is actually good and something else mechanical is going wrong? I removed the dial and put it back on. My spring is...

    Help with Jandy Valve

Thanks for the advice. Taking it apart worked. I can turn it now. The main o-ring was good (replaced anyway) but my kit did not include a square gasket that goes around the diverter. Mine is broken apart and malformed. I need to get a new one. However, when I direct all the suction to come...

    Help with Jandy Valve

It's a 1HP with a SF of 1.1. My pool is somewhere between 12K-13K gallons. UST1102 looks to be the part number. I've been meaning to figure out how efficient this pump is to figure out if it's a big addition to my power bill. I imagine it's quite old. On the valve, I'll take it apart as...

    Help with Jandy Valve

Thanks guys. That is exactly what I have. Do you normally need to apply a lot of force to turn it? It appears you press down on the handle to lift the opposite end so it can rotate but mine won't budge. It looks like I can remove this with a few screws to take a look. I'd hate to break this...

    Help with Jandy Valve

Hello, I have a very basic understanding of the purpose of this valve/diverter. I am referring to the valve in front of the pump. Right on the zoomed out picture. I can't read any of the settings (worn off) and really don't understand the operation as it relates to my pool. My pool is...

    Added chlorine - instantly cloudy

I don't use bleach. The price for Sodium Hypochlorite is fairly low here. I think it is 10.5%. I use a Taylor K-2006C. Calcium Hardness is always high and 420ppm. I don't have a water softener and have hard water. CA is 40 ppm. Thanks for the info. Looks like I was overly concerned.

    Added chlorine - instantly cloudy

Hello everyone, My pool water was very clear before adding about 1.5 gallons of chlorine today. I thought I noticed what looked like some light smoking as I was walking inside but I didn't think it was coming from the pool. Five minutes later the entire pool is cloudy to the point where I...

    Hurricane Prep Pool Help

Thanks. That was it. Thanks everyone for your help. I should have learned to do that before the threat of a hurricane. It all worked out.

    Hurricane Prep Pool Help

I didn't even think of the skimmer. Thanks. I just checked. My water level is actually still above the skimmer so I don't think that is what has caused the air to get in the system. I'm actually okay with the current water level. The issue now is I can't even run my system without a LOT of...

    Hurricane Prep Pool Help

So bad news... after draining for 4-5 hours with no problems I assume I lost my prime. Air started coming out of the jets and there was air in the pump basket. I shut it off right away. The water line of the pool is still above the jets. The only procedure I know didn't work. I did what I...

    Hurricane Prep Pool Help

I might have the description wrong on the location. It's connected to a pipe between the tall filter assembly and the square pump basket. That pump basket is still 100% full of water so I assume the prime is still good. It is VERY slow... But I am in North Florida so I will power until for...

    Hurricane Prep Pool Help

Hello, Apologizes if there's already a thread on this. I'm in a time crunch here in FL preparing for Matthew. My pool is already almost full from very recent rain and the hurricane hasn't even hit yet. To drain, I have hooked a hose to a spigot that is attached before the pump basket. Is it...

Can old liquid chlorine cause problems?

Thanks. I didn't know what it would turn into. Forgot to mention I have a few containers of acid. Those will actually be useable, correct?

Can old liquid chlorine cause problems?

Hello, When I moved to my current house last year, I inherited several Pinch a Penny containers half full of liquid chlorine. I'd like to return these to get the deposit back and get them out of my shed. I understand the chlorine levels are deteriorated. Can I pour this into my pool without...

Return Jets obstructing view for vacuuming

Thanks. All good advice I will try this weekend. My Polaris is getting repaired now. I am fighting cleaning up the pool after some pressure washing around the deck that put some sand / fine dirt in the pool. My Polaris did fairly well but I need to manual vac for now while waiting / hoping...

Return Jets obstructing view for vacuuming

Hello, I just moved and have a ~12,000 gallon pool that I don't know how to operate all that well. When vacuuming, the wake of the return jets obstruct the view in the deep end and I can't see well enough to vacuum well. My pool has setup has two valves I can turn on and off to control the...
