Since the spa overflows into the pool, I assume the water in the spa comes from the pool so it's all the same water. no need to test separately, so long as it runs occasionally to refresh the water.

With the opening on the back of that I don't think it would be a good idea to drop it in a pool. Around the house uses could be interesting, but I think I would keep it away from water.
