why is free chlorine recommendation higher with TFP experts?

Everyone here recommends kits like the taylor-k-2006 but I guess not the guidelines that come with those kits? I usually follow the guidelines that come with the kit for all chemicals. I try to stay within the bounds.

    Frogs

Just clean it, it's life. Duck and geese poop in my pool, I just clean it. I occasionally clean out a dead mouse, live turtles and frogs from the pool. Luckily no snakes yet.

Orange rust like spots on liner floor

Thanks, I've read that before. I guess I'll try all that but it's at the bottom of the pool so "holding it there" is going to be kind of tough. It's also on the slant. I'm not draining the pool to get it, it doesn't bother me enough to spend 1k on water. If it's organic I guess I'll have to wait...

    DE sands in pool

You probably have a rip in one or more of the grids. This happened to me and I just ended up replacing them all. I hope someone has an answer that is cheaper.

Orange rust like spots on liner floor

Thread title pretty much says it all. I have 2 small spots of this now and they dont scrub off. What is this? Literally looks like rust, iron stain? What balancing issue causes this and how do I get rid of stains?

    Solar cover suggestions

I have the same problem. My cover is large and heavy. My reel is really heavy too but I didn't get enough sections to put the sections deep into each other (only about 10" in each other) and it causes the cover to sag. It's a huge pain to put the cover on (not so much to take it off except near...

    Solar cover too short

Personally I wouldn't even worry about it, most of your pool is covered. You can also buy cheaper solar covers that come in circular/oval shapes from almost any store that sells pool related items and just throw I on there, these won't blow away since they have a heavier outline. Most of them...

How often to replace filters in robot cleaners?

I've had a SharkVac for going on 4 yours now. The filters get so dirty so quickly even when I clean them after every use, the pleats just have a tendency to pick things up that aren't easily washed out. I don't use a pressure washer but I do use a narrow nozzle on my hose gun. How often do you...

    Tarp Cover for Solar Cover/Reel?

Ok, thanks. They are very cheap so I'll probably get one. The only thing I can see is if water got in there and expanded and somehow ripped it. I suppose UV could fade it or cause dry/cracking but that could happen in summer too.

    Tarp Cover for Solar Cover/Reel?

I have a 24 foot wide solar cover on a reel at the end of my pool, do I need to get a tarp to cover this for the winter? I left it uncovered on the reel all summer with no issues. Thanks.

    What's your pool cleaners name?

We have a Hayward SharkVac which I have dubbed 'piece of s***" and I make it sleep outside in the rain.

Anyone Having Problems With Spiders Around Their Pool?

I know this is an old thread but we just put a pool in an the wolf spiders (and/or their cousin the hunter spider) are all over, it's crazy, I can see a few floating in the bottom of the pool dead. We leave our noodles in the pool all the time and they love to hang out on them. They also hide...

    $600 Grill

I have a Genesis S-330 (I never use the side burner fyi). It's ok. It's really not enough BTU for me and it's starting to rust and crack already after about 2 years but nothing major. I've smoked on it and it's done pretty well (turkey, pork shoulder, brisket). It actually does better for slow...

    Our New Pool

Thanks. My son loves it. We've had a few adults on it too! Weight limit is 275 so that's pretty good. We also really like the walkout (in the deep end) and the stadium steps. Some of the pavers behind the coping have started to settle already (after ~1 month) so they need to come back out and...

    Our New Pool

New pool, still trying to grow some grass around it and still need to put up a fence around it (for the little ones so they don't drown).

    Hayward Sharkvac

The sharkvac I'm talking about is the RC9470cub and it's a bit of a pain to clean, imo. Does anyone else have any opinions on this model or the XL version of this model?

    Hayward Sharkvac

My pool guy gave me a Hayward sharkvac (even tough Aquabot Rapids 4wd was in the contract). I've been using it for two days (before I noticed it was the wrong brand). It's not very good and between getting it out, plugging it in, dealing with all the cables and extension cords and then having...

250k btu heater big enough for 33k gallon pool?

Yes, the heater is working fine. When I turned the gas heater to manual mode (ie, not bypass operation) everything seemed to work ok, with it being only 250 (wish we had installed a 400, considering they aren't much more expensive) it gets about a degree every 90 minutes.

250k btu heater big enough for 33k gallon pool?

No, looks like it just might be a faulty sensor.

250k btu heater big enough for 33k gallon pool?

Well, it looks like something is wrong with the temp sensor. The heater is acting 'more normal' in manual mode (opposed to bypass operation), I'm getting more along the lines of 1 degree/hr as suggested by danpik, the temp on the heater is reading 71 and the temp on the remote (temp sensor on...

250k btu heater big enough for 33k gallon pool?

It's low 50s here at night, Richmond temps are close but ours are slightly more mild since I'm 10 minutes off the coast. I called Hayward, he told me to take the heater out of remote (put it in manual) and we set the temp to 90, so if I go out and check the heater and the water is still at 75...

250k btu heater big enough for 33k gallon pool?

Just so I know, a thermal blanket just sits on top of the water and is not anchored, so it is easily removed/applied?

    Pool never overflows

You probably have overflow protection built in behind one or more of the skimmers? We are currently considering if we really want this overflow or not.

250k btu heater big enough for 33k gallon pool?

The temp setting on the remote/wall unit (aquaPlus) is 92. I had it before at 85 and it still stopped at 75. It stops at 75 now (set at 92). When the pump came on this morning, for example, the water temp was 65. The temp went up to 75 within two hours, so I'm not sure it's a size issue. To...

250k btu heater big enough for 33k gallon pool?

I have approx. 28000 gallon pool (L shaped, 40-18 long and 26-14 short, there is overlap there). I have a 250k but Hayward natural gas heater. I can't seem to get the pool above 75... the pool and heater are brand new and it seems there is something preventing the heater from going above 75 but...

    New Pool Owner

Hello all. I just had an L-shaped saltwater vinyl, polymer wall pool installed. We have pavers being installed in a month so it's just backfill around the pool now. Btw, we are in southeast VA. :)
