    Calcium Levels

I found 4# of Calcium Chloride at Ace Hardware for $9.99 which is not cheap. It took it from 150 to 175 so I'll need some more. What type of bleach do you use? Again, never had a problem with the Clorox from Costco. Thanks.

    Calcium Levels

The bleach is no problem. I've been buying at Costco and using for years. I appreciate your reply.

    Calcium Levels

Okay. I've tested using my new reagents today and the CH level is still 150. Pool Math recommends adding 11 pounds of Calcium Chloride...11#'s! I will start off smaller than that and check as it rises but my question is what is the best source for CC? I use Clorox bleach only so no Calcium...

    Calcium Levels

Thanks. The reagents could be the problem as, for that test, they are not used as much as FC and ph for instance. Will replace and see if that works. Thanks.

    Calcium Levels

How concerned should I be in the SF Bay Area winter months that my CH levels have dropped? All summer my weekly tests are right around 250 PPM consistently. Early December it dropped to 200 and now in January I'm at 150 as of yesterday. I have added calcium chloride according to Pool Math but...

    Tired of pH drift

My plaster (Pebble tech) 2 years old and I'm adding about 7 oz MA every other day to keep ph below 7.8. TA is 80-90. Time will tell I guess.

    Clorox

I've been using the "Performance" for about two years now with now problems. I clean my filter twice a year and haven't noticed any buildup. I'll look for the basic though just to be on the same page.

What do polymers do to the water?

    Clorox

I get my Clorox at Costco and it says "Performance" on the label and is 6.05%. Never had a problem with it.

    Cynauric

Hi everyone. I've finally reduced my CYA level to as low as I can measure. From well over 200 two years ago my readings today are, 80.0 degrees, 2.0 FC, 7.7 ph, 90 TA, 250 CH and 30 CYA. I've already added 54 ounces of bleach and oz of 15% MA as a result this morning. My question is what's...

1st TF-100 test results, what to do next?

I wouldn't be in any hurry to waste water by draining. You can service that CYA level if it is really around 100. Use the chart and get your FC up and yes, the Clorox from Costco is what you need. In b time, with splash out, evaporation and adding water the CYA will balance if you maintain the...

    CYA test question

Difficult to satisfy accuracy with this test. I've found that pouring to certain levels then quick glancing works best. Fill to 100 for example, hold at waist, back to sun. If you see the dot, fill to 80 etc. If you stare too long you'll see your head in reflection. Keep at it! Sent from my...

What is the danger of high CYA and attempts to mask the problems associated with it?

What is the danger of high CYA and attempts to mask the problems associated with it?

Chlorine too low to deal with that CYA. Stay away from the pool store and get a good test kit. Use bleach or liquid chlorine to get the FC up per CYA ratio. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

CYA is there a way to lower without draining?

CYA is there a way to lower without draining?

I wouldn't worry about that CYA number vs. your FC reading. Watch it for awhile and see how it does over time. As long as you keep your FC number in range you're fine. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Using Jesse's Graphical Pool Testing Log 3.3

I use "Pool Pal" app on my phone that works off "Pool Math". It's convenient and does adjust for what strength chemicals you're using. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

    CYA very high?

That's the best! You've entered the "no-fail" zone.

Oak trees are beautiful. Work harder.

    CYA very high?

It'll take time but you can deal with high CYA with partial draining /filling but have patience! Get rid of the pucks and use bleach only. Might take a year but use the chart to determine FC levels appropriate to your CYA number. It'll be fine, follow the program.

    Spa draining into pool, ideas?

I've had this "problem", off and on for years. When the filter shuts off the spa drains into the pool with spa level going down to the jets. Doesn't really bother me but if there's a fix I'd be interested.

Can I use up my CalHypo?

Thanks everyone. I'm going to dispose of the Cal-hypo and stick to bleach. Why mess with what works?

Can I use up my CalHypo?

After finally getting my CYA under control with a year of nothing but bleach (Clorox) can I use up the 73% CalHypo I have from the pool store as long as I follow PoolMath? No stabilizer there right? Thanks.
