Iron in the fill water (well)

Ah yes! Now I remember that when we had this problem before, we used a bunch of polyfill to help remove the iron. Looking at a better quality inline filter may help, moving forward, to keep iron levels low. Thanks!

Iron in the fill water (well)

I'm dealing with water turning green from iron in the the fill water. It's been particularly dry this year, so we've been using our well water to keep the pool level maintained, as opposed to Nature's refills from rain. Our well water has more iron than in years past, thanks to changes in the...

Pool won't clear no matter what. Tired of fighting with it.

I also want to chime in and say trust the process as advised by TFP - you probably don't need to drain! Put the numbers requested here, and the experts can help you out. 8 years ago, they helped me turn a black/green swamp into crystal clear and sparkling. it took about 3 weeks, but we got...

    First time opening!

The photo above is the deck side canister for the in-floor cleaning system. If you can get a good clear view of one of the popup heads in the floor, it would have some marking that tells you the kind of system you have. There are online guides to help you identify the kind of system you have. -...

down jets popping out - help?

We've owned our pool for 8 season, and we're trying to finally get the down jets working in an effort to finallllly bring the paramount PCC2000 infloor cleaning system up and running. The pool has 4 wall returns, 1.0 HP pump. Filter pressure gauge is reading about 18 PSI. A couple years ago...

    planning a renovation

I'm just beginning to wrap my head around what direction to go with our pool renovation. Our pool was built with all the bells and whistles and automation, but we have been using it in basic/manual mode since we bought the place due to lots of damage and missing equipment. We plan to DIY this...

    Unusual Warm Spring

I was thinking about this today. I'm in Northern Illinois, and we usually open late May. I'm thinking we'll be opening early May, if these weather trends continue.

Pool slide removal... should it stay or should it go, and how?

We've had a pool slide that we've never used due to the lower runway being broken (interfab wild ride), and not being in budget to replace with new. Now we're considering just removing the whole thing. I guess I'm wondering what to do about the plumbing? removing the leg bolts in the deck...

Considering SWG Generator but I have concerns

Does the above account for initial salt loading the pool, the additions of salt to pool as needed, or the electricity use in running the SWG?

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

I'm seeing that looking through things. I'm mostly expecting prices to go up more. Our pool budget is going to hurt this year.

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

I just started looking at bleach prices up here in Northern Illinois. Ouch! Rural King is at 19.99/4 gallon pack of 10% Menards was better at 4.99/gallon of 12.5% Last year Rural King ended the season at $14.99/4 gallon 10%

time to replace our cover! suggestions?

We have a Rayner solid cover with 2 mesh panels, anchors/springs, for our L shaped pool (37x27 on the long sides with as piece on the inner L/shorter sides wrapping around a spillover spa. By it's size its a beast to put on and off. It's also super heavy, and very stiff. It takes up a lot of...

    Future planning for closing

I loves my hubs, but I have struggled to convince him that loosing prime could really do that much damage to a pump. Our pumps are all somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 yrs old and I think we'll be replacing them next season. We had trouble getting it primed this fall after cleaning out the...

    Future planning for closing

Can you give me a good reason to not use the pool pump for this purpose? I need to convince my spouse. What damage could it cause to pump or pool?

    Future planning for closing

This was our 6th season closing, and every year, we're trying to find ways to make this faster for us. As you can see with my sig, we have a spa and IG pool. We drain the spa into the pool, and then drain the pool below the skimmers as the first steps of our closing process. Since we don't...

forgot to pull out the pool lights... suggestions?

yeah. I must have read something way back in the day about pulling them out and leaving them on the bottom of the pool. maybe it has to do with making sure we're not growing algae in the niche. If freezing is a non-issue, then we'll just pull it out when we do our start up, to adequately...

forgot to pull out the pool lights... suggestions?

We closed yesterday... and forgot to pull out our 2 pool lights. It would be a huge pain to pull the cover back on the 2 walls enough to get in to remove the lights. They're about 2 - 2.5 feet below the level of the pool deck. Soooo. what are the risks to the lights/pool if we leave them...

Bought a home and over my head

I recommend that you look up the manufacturer and model of each piece of equipment, and download any user/instruction manuals you can. It looks like you have a cartridge filer. While you scoop debris and add liquid chlorine as recommended above, you can get to know your equipment and how to...

Bought a home and over my head

Spa/Jet pump conundrum - Older Aqualink and 2.0 HP pump dying?

We have no jet fittings - all missing. But we have not directly inspected the impeller. Today, the motor got hot, and turned off the pump. We replaced the capacitors on the motors about 3 years ago. More investigating to do.

Spa/Jet pump conundrum - Older Aqualink and 2.0 HP pump dying?

The Jet Therapy pump for our spa is pretty much done. (it runs, but there is very littler output at the jets, so assuming pump just can't generate the needed pressure. The pump label mostly missing, but I think it's a single speed 2.0 HP Jandy PHPF2.0 We have an Aqualink RS8 from 2007, Model...
