Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

Yeah I will after I am able to get a retest ajd confirm (regents coming monday) I was conservative when I added the cya because I know it's not somthing that's easy to get rid of. Unless I've missed something though thr only consequence of low CYA us the rate the sun eats through the FC...

Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

I didn't think algae could grow without sunlight.. how is the sand in the interior of my steps different from the sand in my filter?

Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

I'm not sure which part of the process I'm not following. That's why I posted here. I reread the SLAM article. The only thing I might be doing differently is adding more chlorine than required. As far as the stairs go I can't be the only person with permanent stairs. I realize it's not...

Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

The Taylor test was registering 0 CYA so I manually added enough to get it to 20. I didn't have enough regents to repeat the test. I've ordered more now. I did use strips and they are registering 0 CYA I know they are inaccurate but I would think if the CYA was actually higher than 20-30 I...

Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

Yeah I definitely should have just dumped chlorine in earlier. In didn't anticipate I'd be looking at a month+ to clear the water. It's been really nasty before and the SLAM process has always cleared it in a reasonable amount of time if I stayed on top of the FC. I may look into paying for...

Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

Yeah me too, hence my frustration. I've used the SLAM system before and it never took more than a week or so to either be done or at least *much* better than that. It is slowly getting better. The first week my sand filter was clogging every hour or so, and it was hard to see my hand if I...

Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

Thanks for the replies. I can't remove the stairs without taking 16 bolts out of the deck and getting at least one person in the pool with one or two people ok the deck to help lift... I hate these stairs. I did brush them really well just now. I thought it was just dirt but maybe it was...

Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

I'm only able to dose once or twice a day. However it's been weeks since the pool ever went under slam level (12 FC). I've been bring it up to 15-20 and it drops to around 12 in 24h And yes I'm using the 2006c. I have another one coming as yesterday I used the last of my FC test powder and...

Pool still green after a month of SLAMing.

I had to replace my pump this year so the pool got pretty bad before I could start cleaning it. I have a CYA of 20 and have kept the FC between 12 and 20 since the end of June. Starting PH is 7.4 but my pool is still green. It does seem to be slowly getting better i can see the bottom now but...

Thank you both. I ordered a cheap pump to get the water moving while I look into replacing the motor. I suppose it won't hurt to have a backup.

Sorry I don't know. Is there more than one that could be in a Pentair 340038?

I'm not sure replacing the motor is within my skill set. Especially because I really need to get things up and running this week if I want to open the pool when I planned. If you have a link handy it's certainly something I'll look into though.

Ugh, that figures. I can't swing $1k on a pump unfortunately. I'm assuming the cheap dualspeeds wouldn't quality as "proper variable speed pumps" either. Looks like I'll have do some research and see what my best option in the 300-500 range is. =/

Ouch that's kinda outside my price range. I paid about 350 for the thing new in 2015. It's not a variable speed like the one you linked, but it looks like even the single speed from pentair are pretty expensive now. I'm not too worried about the positioning of the plumbing. The intake is a...

I'm sorry I don't know what you mean by "wet end" if you're talking about where the water goes through as far as I can tell it's fine. I don't know for sure there isn't something wrong with the impeller or anything that's not visible through the basket opening or pipe inlets.

My outlet says 125v 20a. So that would be 110 yes? If it matters it's plumbed into a Hayward EC40AC DE filter.

Thank you. Any recommendations for a replacement for a ~12000g above ground pool? I don't need it to be fancy just tough enough to deal with the fact my pool gets pretty dirty (under lots tree cover) so sometimes it gets pushed pretty hard before I bump/clean my filter.

So I have a 8yr/o Pentair 340038 SuperFlo that decided it doesn't want to start this year. I replaced the run capacitor but that didn't change anything. I then removed the back cover and was unable to get the shaft to turn. I just wanted to check that I'm correct in assuming that piece...
