    DE in sandfilter removing stabilizer ??

    I have a strong feeling that when I am using diatomaceous earth in my sandfilter (searching for max clarity), it seems to be removing my stabilizer as well. I do wait at lest a week after adding stabilizer before I do any backwash. Anybody that could enlighten me in this problem ?

    Calcium chloride seems to have turned into white dust on the bottom, is this normal ?
