What do you set you VS pump to when treating algae?

My water chemistry is balanced fortunately, but I’m curious to know what the protocol should be. On my old single speed, I’d run it overnight and continue to SLAM until clear. Also, is it true you shouldn’t run a VSP at max exceeding 4 hours?

"Eyeball" fitting keeps popping out. How do I approach this?

It's always been quite loose, but I'd always just shut the pump off and insert it back in. I'm guessing it's time to replace the fitting itself, but I don't even know what brand fitting the jets are (the pool is over 20+ years old)

    Did I wreck my filters?

We have a dolphin nautilus CC that I baby 99% of the time. Our 10+ year old pump took a dump and the pool has become an algae riddled mess. That being said, tomorrow we should have a brand new variable speed pump. I foolishly left the robot in the pool and now it seems to have “algae stains”...

Could someone help me identify my Hayward pump?

I need to change the seal plate, but I can't seem to find what model I have exactly. I believe it's a Super II, but I can't home in on the correct model # to find the correct parts I need. Thank you in advance, I genuinely appreciate the users in this forum.

Calcium hypochlorite immediately stained plaster black/purple

I sprinkled some product on the areas with black algae with the intention of letting it sit for 5 min before scrubbing it with a metal brush. It immediately discolored the plaster. I’m normally meticulous with testing before adding anything, but I dropped the ball big time here. I’m screwed right?

Have chlorine prices exploded in your area? Any alternatives?

Currently I’m paying around $8.25 for 2.5 gallons of chlorine. I feel like the price has increased significantly. That being said, a gallon from Walmart was almost $6 On another note, is there any way to directly test chlorine concentration? I’m JUST speculating, but the rather deep yellow hue...

Dolphin Nautilus CC screw has no threads.. normal?

I was cleaning the impeller for the first time and noticed this. I can’t tighten it nor does the hole have threads either…

Does anyone’s Nautilus CC struggle going up the walls sometimes?

Sometimes it goes back and fourth trying to scale the same portion of the wall, and sometimes it decides to go full Spiderman and scale a wall and go up on a bench area (see pictured). It was completely on top, but I snapped a photo of it on its way down. I’m extremely pleased with this the...

I need some help automating my light switch.

The light in my pool is controlled by the pictured toggle switch. I haven’t tested the wires just yet, but at first glance I’m a bit confused with both red wires. I’ve installed several “smart” switches, but they require a neutral. I think my best bet would be to just get something like this...

How can I properly take care of my robot?

We just spent a hefty amount on a Nautlius (so far so good) but I want to know how to best take care of it. I obviously didn’t wrap the cable because (see photo). Any tips? I don’t have the caddy and currently can’t justify the purchase. After every use, I throughly hose it off with fresh water...

Nautilus CC owners, can you describe how your robot navigates?

I just dropped my new Nautilus CC in the pool and wanted to know how your unit normally navigates.

Is there any particular reason why PoolMath doesn't include 2.5 gal jugs as an option?

The yellow square containers of liquid chlorine in my area only come in 2.5 gal. It's not a big deal as I can manually log it, just something I noticed now as I'm performing a SLAM. I'm assuming it's not common to add this quantity of chlorine on a regular basis?

About to SLAM, but I have some questions.

The streaks are brush marks, but here is the algae (image posted below). Before starting this process I'm going to remove all the debris pictured at the bottom. Test levels: CYA 50, pH 7.8, FC 6 and 0 CC. Disclaimer, I did add Clorox Shock XtraBlue2 and 1 gallon of liquid chlorine a week ago...

    A bit overwhelmed

Just moved into a new house with a pool. I went ahead and bought a Taylor k-2006 kit and read the articles on the site. These were my values for today: FC 9.6 pH 7.9 CH 190 CYA 60 TA Reagent R-0009 somehow came without a dropper so I couldn't do this test. In the treatment guide (great read...
