Heading out of town for a week

We’re headed out of town for a week and I figure I’d superchlorinate it before we go (the filter will be running on a timer, and the vacuum too). Any idea what ppm level chlorine I would need to get to to last the whole week? It’s sunny/hot and the CYA is at 50.

Anyone know where to buy just a few CAL hypo tabs?

I’d like 2 cal hypo tabs to put in the skimmer while we go on vacation for a week, but I only see giant tubs for sale and I wouldn’t use them regularly bc I don’t want to continuously add calcium. Does anyone know where you can buy a very small amount of CAL hypo tabs? My CYA is already about...

Are Pentair cartridge filters Universal? How do I figure out what I need for replacement filter cartridges?

Are Pentair cartridge filters Universal? How do I figure out what I need? There are several numbers on the top of our cartridges and several numbers on our filter so I’m not sure what exactly we have. Pics attached.

Three month old filters, lots of wear and tear

Our filters are just three months old and when we took them out to clean them because we felt the pool wasn’t getting as clean as normal they looked really beat up. Plastic was cracked and the bands were torn. What could’ve caused this? Is this normal wear and tear or is this a pressure issue?

Chlorine level and skimmers when going out of town

Will be heading out of town in July for a week, we have a VSF and it’s set to run low 5 hours and med/high 5 hours. Have a lil robot vacuum that will run in the pool but not the spa every couple days. Two questions: We have an in-line chlorinator but don’t use it bc of CYA in tabs. Assuming no...

How badly did I mess up?

My CYA was measuring low this AM (it rained quite a bit in the past couple of days) so I added 4 oz (5500 gallon pool, recommended was 8 oz on pool math but I do half and then check). Unfortunately I hadn’t had my coffee yet and wasn’t thinking clearly at all, so I just sprinkled it in around...

Lots of rain in forecast, anything preventative to do?

Pool chemistry is measuring great right now and we are heating it up for one last swim before the next couple days of rain here in Texas. Last few times it rained it was pretty dirty and of course made the pool pretty acidic. Is it better to let nature do what it does and treat afterwards, or...

    Auto pool skimmers

Do auto pool skimmers work? Any brand reccs if they do? My neighbors crêpe myrtle flowers are beautiful but are driving me nuts with 1 million tiny pink petals filling the pool every day. The filter does the job but I don’t want to leave the pump on all day long.

    CYA increasing

Y’all warned me about CYA increasing with the inline chlorinator requiring trichlor tabs (put in by our pool builder) and it’s happening, with CYA slowly creeping up though I’ve added none, can see it becoming an issue within not too long. I’m going to start using liquid chlorine but I would...

How do water features affect PH and TA?

I have a small Gunite pool (~4400 g) and a large spa (~1200 g) attached that flows into the pool. The pool and the spa both have large rock waterfalls, so when they are turned on, there’s ALOT or aeration. How does that affect my pH and/or TA levels? Right now my TA is 85 and my pH is 7.5 after...

    Good to swim?

Pretty sure we are good to swim even though chlorine is slightly high… should we wait?

Has anyone ever tested the water of their neighborhood pool or rec center/health club?

Has anyone ever tested the water of their neighborhood pool or rec center/health club, just for kicks? I’m tempted but maybe ignorance is bliss 😂😂

Pool super acidic, low chlorine, what can I do?

So they came and worked on our waterfalls because they were broken when they were installed and they got them working which is awesome. Unfortunately they turned off the chlorine feeder and poured a bunch of muriatic acid in the pipes to get a clog out, so now my pool has no chlorine and is...

    Maintenance

Well I think I finally have beautiful clear water and some idea of what I’m doing, thanks to y’all If everything looks good (FC at 2, CYA at 40, TA at 90) does that mean I just check with my little Taylor kit each day to make sure it’s staying good and add chemicals as needed? Or do most of you...

    Okay to store chemicals outside?

We fixed up the muddy pool equipment area over the weekend and added a cabinet to store everything. Super happy to have everything organized and pretty, but is it okay to store chemicals in there all the time? Or the test kit? Right now it seems fine and I can’t imagine cold would be a big issue...

TA is 100, not sure if it is okay or needs to be lowered?

My new pool is finally clearing up and my readings are FC 2.5 CH 405 TA 100 CYA 30 PH 7.6 I’m going to add CYA to get it to 40, but do I need to lower the TA? The trouble free Pools chart says that my ideal TA is between 60 to 80, but the TF-100 kit says 100-120 for chlorinated pools. If TA...

    Pool vacuum for dust/small particles

Is there a brand/model of pool vacuum that works especially well on dust/sediment that is pretty small particles? it’s heavy enough to settle before it gets circulated to our filter.

What’s the most accurate way to measure PH?

Is there a more accurate way to measure PH? I have trouble reading the daily test kit color that came with my TF-100. I know I can measure TA but I didn’t know if there was a easier to read way of measuring PH.

They Started up everything yesterday! But now water looks very cloudy :/

So our 14 month odyssey of a pool build is finally wrapping up, and they turned on the pumps for the waterfalls yesterday after filling the day before. When they did that a ton of dirt flushed out into the water. They added a bag of chlorine (I believe it was enough shock for 10-15k gallons...

Just filled pool and pump should be turned on tomorrow, but it’s bad weather and may be delayed

Our pool had plaster (wet edge) done this weekend and just finished filling a few hours ago before I went to bed. The pool construction company is supposed to come out tomorrow to turn on the pump and filtration system so we can start brushing the plaster. Well I woke up just now to terrible...
