Auto pool skimmers

Do auto pool skimmers work? Any brand reccs if they do?

My neighbors crêpe myrtle flowers are beautiful but are driving me nuts with 1 million tiny pink petals filling the pool every day. The filter does the job but I don’t want to leave the pump on all day long.

I finally bought one (Bettabot 2 - solar powered skimmer) about a month ago. So far I just love it.

It has worked far better than I expected, given the very irregular shape/contours of my natural rock pool and the shallow sun shelf. It has only gotten stuck once. The surface of my pool is clean as a whistle without me doing any manual skimming. I am in San Antonio, TX, so lots of sunshine, and the Bettabot runs almost all day (and half the night).

With pool equipment I always worry about reliability, so I paid extra for the 3 year extended warranty.
