Rust streak from auto fill on first year pool

I have a rust streak running down from my auto fill port. Shop vac’d the auto fill bucket, city water has little to no iron, plumbed in with all pvc, fills off brand new arrowhead 486 frost proof, started after I unhooked the auto fill for the winter. Only unknown is I deleted the vacuum breaker...

    Water smells like wet dog?

My wife has been telling me the water smells like a wet dog, I didn’t smell it. Well today I was doing my weekly full spectrum test and smelt my cup of water and smelt the “wet dog”. Water is crystal clear, no CC. Chemicals are in line. Any ideas? (You can see my levels in my profile) Oh and we...

And here what happen with and empty pool and lots of rain

I been driving by this pool for years. The last 3 years it’s been a green swamp. Well this winter they drained it and left it empty. Over the past 2 months we have had LOTS of rain in Dallas. We had an 8” rain event over a weekend period and this happened.

Pool math, are dry chems measured per scale weight?

Pool math tells me to add 14lbs of calcium. On a scale, 32 oz in a measuring cup weighs ~1lbs. So do I add 14-32oz cups full, or 7 cups up to the 32oz line? This is a huge variance? I’m sure each dry chemical weighs a different weight.

    Showing low salt at 3800ppm

I just tested my salt with my new Taylor K-1766 and came up with 3800ppm. My low salt alert came on sometime today. It did this Sunday after adding CYA Saturday (in a sock in the skimmer) but the alert cleared itself while I waited to get my test kit. Can CYA mess with the salt cell readings?

    8" of rain overnight

Being new to the pool game thought i'd ask. We got 8" of rain last night and still going. Good thing is the overflow works great. What should I expect when I run my tests tonight? I want to be prepared with enough chemicals before I get home.

Stonetech Salt Water Sealer, but which one?

So it seems to be the general censorious that Stonetech is the preferred stone sealer of the group. But which one, have they changed? Anyone buy some this year off Amazon, and if so which one did you get (A,B or C)? a) b) c)

    ScreenLogics Alert. Is this normal?

So I have no faith in my set-up guy. When my EasyTouch is not running (its on schedule from 8-am to 5pm) I get these 2 alerts on ScreenLogics. Is this correct?

    Problems with new Dolphin S300i

Has anyone had problem with connecting to S300i via bluetooth? I can set my phone on the power supply and it can not connect. Called Maytronics and was told delete app and re-install. Worked once and back to not connecting. My hope is it's an app update issue and i'm not the only one.

    Water feature seeping from backside

My water feature has been turned on maybe 6 times. I noticed that I get dampness on the backside on the exposed wall. The features are simply rock work with an pipe. I’m about to hand over the final check and was wondering if this is something that needs to be addressed (we are at odds kinda)...

    New guy needs help

I’ve come to the conclusion all my PB wants to do is dig holes. Pool chemistry is still, by contract, in his hands, but I have no faith. He had 400lbs of salt added Wednesday. Pump runs at 1750rpm during the day and shuts down at 8pm. (No ScreenLogic installed yet). Here are my test results...

New build water so out of whack can't get readings to now what to add

If you seen my build thread my PB has to empty my 3 day full pool in the next week or so to replace tiles. Concern is he is not worried at the water until after that. My reading are so off I can't get #'s to add to Pool Math to know what to do, if anything. Need help from the experts here. (lost...

Well that ain’t the right color!!

Found out today the decking guys put tan skimmer and auto fill flanges on my GRAY deck. I told my PB that I didn’t want tan, and he agreed to get me gray. Well either the gray were not on site or they did their everyday thing. Question is do they make CMP covers that will cover that flange. I...

    Cameras on your build??

How many had cameras on your new build? I have to face I can't be there the whole build, thinking about a simple camera over looking the build (bet PB will love it). I have a system just not pointed at the dig site. If you had one did it help find anything "not correct", or just make the days...

    Crazy city code on p-trap

Just venting! The city I live in requires a p-trapped line ran from the equipment pad to the city sewer, EVEN with a cartridge filter. City inspector says it just needs to be capped at the pad and not used. That's a 50' run under a fence and a sidewalk to make the tap. From my understanding this...

    New build in Wylie TX

Wife and I are about to sign the papers to start. I have twin 5 year old boys (1 special needs). 6 builders got to bid on this (researched and dug deep into prior builds). Let me just say the Dallas/Fort Worth area has over 300 active pool builders. (I have a wholesale account with PoolCorp and...

    Heat forming PVC

I am getting bids on an in ground in Dallas Tx area, and i'm shocked to have had 2 bids that use heat formed PVC pipe. Background, I have been in the plumbing supply biz for the past 24 years. (was a licensed plumber in the state for a time). This goes against my grain, the IPC nor the UPC...

Decided to start talking about it in North Texas

Hello all, new here from Wylie TX. Wife and I decided to start talking to pool builder next week. I got it narrowed down to 8 builders and we have our first on-site next week. I just watched my retired in-laws build a SWG pool 4 miles down the road. We enjoy using it so much figured we need one...
