    Pool Opening after adverse conditions

My pool is in the floodplain. This past February we got hit with a 100-yr storm event and my pool had 7.5' of water over top of it. We had our safety cover on so we didn't get a lot of flood mud in the pool but there is a fine layer of silt. And a ton of algae and frogs and tadpoles. I've...

    Plumbing with a chlorine generator

So I've had my Circupool generator for 5 years now. Few issues noted in the SWG forum. But this one goes in the plumbing section I think. My system was flooded back in February. My pool is in the floodplain and we got a 100-yr Event. Got everything cleaned out including cleaning threads...

    Circupool CORE series

Anyone have a CORE that can help me out? Mine is 5 years old now but I have a piece on mine that I think should be glued on but not certain. Also, I'm having trouble getting my housing to seal. My entire system was flooded by a historic flood back in February so but that was sealed up at the...

    Another pump question.

Just installed my new Tristar XE. On 100% it keeps the strainer basket full. Same as on 80%. When it kicked down to 50% it loses pressure. But still good enough flow for the chlorine generator. Should I just run it on 80% all the time. Or 70% since 1.5 HP/2.25 HP is 66.7%.

New pump. Any suggestions on run times?

OK, my 1.5 HP Hayward Superpump kicked the bucket. I am replacing with the Hayward W3SP3215X20XE TriStar XE Ultra-High Efficiency Pool Pump, 2.25THP, 230/115V. Any suggestions on speeds and run times before I install it?

So my Hayward SuperPump might be on its death bed

Every day it sounds a little bit more the worse for wear. I'm going to run it until the end but I started looking for a replacement this morning. And I was surprised that they don't make the single speed 1.5 HP anymore. Anyone have a recommendation for a replacement that accepts 1.5" connections.

    SLAM and still cloudy

Been SLAMing since Wednesday evening keeping FC above SLAM level. My CC hasn’t been 1 or more Friday morning. Usually zero drops but sometimes 1 on a 10 mL test. But it’s still cloudy. I’m at 56 gallons of 10% liquid shock in. I know from past experience, most will say that I’m on the right path...

    2023 Liquid Shock Pricing

I've been getting mine at Rural King. 4 gallons of 10% for $16.99. Seems to be the cheapest around but I do wonder about its effectiveness. Where is the breakdown on the chlorine coding?

    Hello there (Obi-Wan Kenobi voice)

Opened my pool on 5/19. Low to non-existent on everything. So I started the SLAM process. I first got my pH up to acceptable ranges and then I got my CYA up to 30 to start my SLAM. Did the wall brushing. Stayed above SLAM levels and by 5/21 my CC was down to <=0.5. CC has remained...

Helping a friend get a new pool ready

Hey everyone. A friend of mine recently put in an 18x36 IG Vinyl Liner pool with approximate volume of 23,500. 1.5 HP Hayward Superpump. I'm helping him get his water balanced. His starting pH was 8+ and his TA was over 200. His FC and CC were 0. He knows nothing about pools (he says it's...

    More SWG questions

My water temp finally climbed over 64 degrees so I am running my new chlorine generator now. Few questions. Is it harder on the cell to run 25% for 24 hrs a day or 100% for 6 hrs a day? Or does it matter? Is it hard on the unit to have power cut off by a timer? Assuming my FC is acceptable...

    Salt question

Seems like I'm posting a lot lately but trying to get everything squared away before I switch over to salt. I just SLAMed my pool getting everything balanced before I add my CORE-55. Plan on doing it tomorrow. Plan on buying the necessary salt today. My FC just read 15.5 and the SALT was...

    Another SLAM success

Any one else feel like doing the Michael Jordan/Tiger Woods fist pump when they complete all the phases of a SLAM or is it just me. Never gets old seeing that CC < 0.5, the no loss of FC overnight, and able to see the deep end bottom. 29 gallons of 10% later and I'm done. Just as soon as I'm...

    Pool Opening

Might be hard to tell but uncovered my pool to a small crack emanating from a crack control joint on each side of the joint. Pool was completely full with water. That doesn’t bother me as much as the fact that the crack is at a return and there are air bubbles coming out of the return. How...

    Another switchover question

Or two. My PVC is 1.5" with my single speed pump. The CORE-55 is 2". I know I can adapt it but will it adversely affect it to much? I've decided, for the time being, not to add a timer for the pump and continue to let it run 24/7 like I have for the last 8 seasons. The CORE-55 is wired for...

    Circupool question

Hey everyone, it snowed here in WV last night but in a month my kids will expect the pool to be open. Especially if they are still on COVID-19 lockdown from school. So I'm going to change my pool over from Liquid Chlorine to an SWG this year because 1) I am tired of dealing with jugs and 2)...

    Pump hums but won't pump

I know I read this somewhere on here but I can't find it right now. Just opened today. Or attempted it. Been running with the kids and behind. But got everything opened open and ready to go. Kicked the pump on and it just hummed. Then eventually kicked the breaker. Didn't attempt to pull...

    Liquid Chlorine freshness

130th day of 2019. Right? But how lol. Bought at Rural King today. $10 for 4 gallons of 10% by the way.

    Adding chlorine

Since I've fully switched over to the TFP method I've had a crystal clear pool all summer. But wondering if I've been the most efficient as possible adding chlorine. I keep my CYA at 40 so my range of FC is 3-7 ppm. On sunny days I lose about 3 ppm a day. From my understanding you can swim in...

    Calcium Hardness & Chlorine add

OK, next water balancing question. I've searched and read and it seems there there is conflicting info. I read somewhere on here that my CH should be 150 for a vinyl pool but I've also saw other people post that vinyl pools don't need any CH. My CH is sitting at 90 and my pool math app says...

    SLAM process question

Had to start the SLAM process. Had a few issues with pump and filter. 2 days ago my readings were: FC = 0 CC = 0 pH = 7 TA = 80 CH = 80 CYA = 30 Added 85 oz of Baking Soda based on Pool Math app. Got pH up to 7.5and started SLAMing. Added 4 gallons of 10% bleach. Which should have took FC...

Greetings from the land of the Hatfields and the McCoys

Hello guys, name is Randy. I built my pool in 2012. I usually run it from the first of May and close it when water temp goes below 60 consistently. It's 28,000 gallons with the usual Hayward stuff. My kids love it. And I joined TFP to make it a tfp lol. Usually buy my chemicals from In the...
