CYA is down. Doesn't make sense?

I just got home from a 9 day trip. Before I left the pool numbers were perfect. FC=4, PH of 7.6, CYA 70, borates 30. CC 0 I left the pool running 24/7 while gone and had a pool cover on it. The mistake I made was in mis-estimating my SWG percentage. So my FC dropped more than expected. It was...

    What to do during Vacation

I'm going to be leaving on a vacation for a week in a couple of weeks, and my pool pump doesn't have a timer on it. Would I be better off running the FC up a little high before vacation and leaving the pump off. Or would I be better off just running the pump (Note: I have a SWG).

Can't seem to get PH down

I'm having a hard time getting my PH down: On Saturday morning, my FC was 3, TH was 65 and my CYA was 65, and my PH was 7.7, Salt 3300 I planned to add Borax to the pool this weekend. So I put in some stabilizer, and adjusted my SWG to bump up my FC a little on Saturday, and I put in a full...

    Suction Pool Cleaner Recommendation

I've had our pool open at the new house for the first time this season a few weeks ago. It is surrounded by lots of neighboring flora, and I've been having to constantly hand vacuum lots of little tree tassles, as well as a bunch of dead algae from its prior closing. Seems I have to vacuum...

The beginnings of a green pool appear to have started today.Help?

About two weeks ago, the pool installers came by and put in the Salt and stabilizer for the new pool they installed at the house. Lo and behold, the SWG never worked (of course they failed to mention that). About a week later, I finally noticed the issue. I'm working on that problem, but for...

Re: Power Light Suddenly off on SWG

Re: Power Light Suddenly off on SWG Finally, got the new pool up and running this week, installers went ahead and put the salt in, other chemicals, etc...and I figured I'd start learning from there. Went to turn on the pump today and noticed the "no flow" light was on the SWG. I think it's...

New Pool, Already Too Cool to use for long

I've just recently purchased a home and got the pool that was there up and running. Here in Columbus, GA the days are still in the upper 80's and lower 90's, but the nights are getting much cooler in the upper 60's. The pool gets a good deal of direct sun (I'd say atleast 8-9 hours) during...

Intro- New Pool Owner in Middle Georgia

Hi, I'm SouthernHiker. I'm a teacher and have an 11 month old son. On the side, I fix houses, and am currently living in a former Foreclosure fixer upper, that included an in ground pool in very bad shape. I got several quotes on liners as soon as I moved in, and it turned out the pool was a...

New SW Pool Owner, Old Pump Troubles

I have just purchased a home that has an inground SW pool. It desperately needed a new liner. Had an installer do this job, and then is set to help me get it up and running. Liner is in and pool is now full, but the pump isn't working. Installer says it's "locked up" and will put a new one and...
