    Winter mold

We've had our stand alone hot tub for 6 years now. Normally it stays open all winter, but due a number of reasons, I drained and winterized it and closed it up last fall. Somehow, over the winter, a small amount water got in and when I took off the cover yesterday, the interior was covered, and...

    Salt level display gone

A few days ago, I decided to check the 'hours meter' on my IC-60 SWG...strictly out of curiosity. I've noticed though, since I did that, neither my Screen Logic app, or Easy Touch display the salt level as it did previously. Instead of reading 3250 ppm or whatever, it now just reads 0 ppm . I...

    New category?

Automation systems have become more and more prevelant, both with new builds and renovations. I'll bet at this point, the majority of all new builds incorporate some level of automation. It seems that with the frequency automation is brought up and discussed here, i'm wondering if the subject...

    Question re: reagents

Taking inventory and getting my TF-100 set up, I found a number of reagents that are about a year old, unopened, kept inside cool and dry in the shipping envelope they came in. I think the rule of thumb is about a year shelf life, but can I use them, or pitch them?

    Another Ahhhsome question

Knowing I wouldnt be using it for a few months, I winterized my hot tub right after New Years. I'm about to wake it back up. Can Ahhsome share the initial fill and purge with the antifreeze that will undoubtedly be present? I was hoping I can just start the Ahhsome treatment with the initial...

So this happens when you don't close correctly

Yesterday, a friend and his wife went to look at a house they were interested in, not terribly far from where I live. The house had a pool and since they knew zero about pools, they asked if I could tag along to give it the once over...not in any great detail, just to see if I noticed anything...

    Sealing painted wood

I have a piece of furniture that I'd like to move out to the back patio / pool area. It's one of those cabinets with a hidden motorized TV lift inside. I've been wanting to put a TV out there for a while now, but there really isn't anywhere to mount it that makes sense. This cabinet is a good...

    Pressure washer PSI recommendation

I'm in the market for a pressure washer. Can anyone recommend the best PSI for all around general residence stuff? (Walls, siding, brick, concrete, lawn furniture, etc.) I dont need to strip paint with it, but definatly need something with more oomf than a regular hose. I borrowed my neighbor's...

    Quick observation / question

We all know that aeration causes PH to rise. With a water feature and bubblers, I can certainly attest to that. Yet the PH in my (stand alone) hot tub, which I would think to be the poster child for aeration, remains rock steady, regardless of use. How come?

    Liner question....opinions sought

Well, we're knee deep into the new pool vinyl liner decision. I now believe other posters that have said of the multitude of decisions of a new build, this one was the most nerve wracking. We're still narrowing down color choices.....we've been pouring over the existing liner threads. The PB...

    Thoughts on diving boards

We are just about to break ground on our new build and the other night the subject of adding a diving board came up. The discussion is between my wife and myself... and the PB. One of us wants one, two of us lean against it. The pool will be a freeform design with rockwork w/ waterfalls and...

    New build in PA

Well, I'm back... This is actually a resurrection of a previous thread. Originally this build was to start last spring, but when it became apparent that we would lose the swim season, we opted to use our existing pool for the summer, and push the build back until fall. Well, here we are...

    Bit of a cover challenge

So I'm in the final design stages for a new build starting in about 6 weeks. The overall design is for it to be a "natural" feel (freeform shape, boulders, waterfall, etc, etc) Here's my challenge... because of the shape we will not be going with an auto-cover. I don't care for the options...

    New build in western PA

Just a few little details to finalize but the paperwork should all be signed sealed and delivered in a few days. I've lurked on these boards for a while now gaining all kinds of knowledge from all of you. However, I certainly welcome any advice along the way. Though I'm not a first time pool...

    What could it be?

I've noticed a change with my pump over the last 10 days or so. Normally, the water level in the pump basket is right up against the glass lid. It was so full, that without an occasional piece of debris floating by, it almost appeared as if there was no water in it at all. It had been that way...
