Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

That's what I was wanting. That seems like the right place to put it.

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

My concern here is that the fill water will be pushing into the filter and pump without it being on. Is that a legitimate concern or am I making it up? Where would you add a fill line on a new pool?

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

Been a while since I started this thread, but I'm back to thinking about doing this properly. I have discovered that the water line is plumbed into the skimmer suction line. As far as I can tell, it works fine as is, but I still don't think it is done correctly. What I would like to do is...

Tiny air bubbles coming out of only one return

It's raining today, but I was able to get a picture before it got too bad. The cleaner was running when I took the picture so the pump was at 2750RPM and the air bubble in the pump pot does appear to be smaller. It didn't look like there was any air coming out of the return, but it was a...

Tiny air bubbles coming out of only one return

I'll get to all of this tomorrow, but here is an older picture of the suction side plumbing. There has since been a water line plumbed into the skimmer line. (No clue why the builder plumbed it into the suction side.)

Tiny air bubbles coming out of only one return

The normal speed for my pump is 2K RPM. It runs at 2750 when the cleaner is running, but other than that it's at 2K pretty much the whole time. Here is a picture of the pump basket. It's dark here now so the picture is pretty awful, but that trash around the edge of the basket is on top of...

Tiny air bubbles coming out of only one return

Hmm, my pump basket always has some air in it. It's been like that since day one as far as I can remember. I wouldn't consider it a lot though. If I were to take the lid off, water would still overflow. I'll get a picture of it.

Tiny air bubbles coming out of only one return

I did not know that. I will definitely check that out if I can figure out how. Would I just set the chlorine to 0%? What is considered "significant signs of air?"

Tiny air bubbles coming out of only one return

My pool has 1 return "outlet" for the cleaner, 2 bubblers, and 4 normal return "outlets." Lately, I've noticed tiny air bubbles coming out of one of the normal returns. It's only one of them. Does that indicate a possible crack somewhere in that return line plumbing? Unfortunately I'm not...

    Jandy iAqualink spillover mode questions

Great point! I did not know that about the system. So if i create two entries for the same time (8:30am-8pm) one with 1500RPM and the other with 2000RPM, then that will allow any other schedule during that time to go as low as 1500? I will play with it tomorrow and see what I can do.

    Jandy iAqualink spillover mode questions

I did have the Pool speed set to 1750, but I just changed it today to get a little more flow. I guess 2000RPM is ok for the spillover, I'm just curious why it won't go any lower. Maybe it's a limitation of that function?

    Jandy iAqualink spillover mode questions

This video is with the pump running at 2000RPM. Regardless of how low I set the speed for spillover, it never goes below 2000RPM.

    Jandy iAqualink spillover mode questions

I've just changed my plumbing over to use the spillover mode on my Jandy iAqualink system for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. Would it be beneficial to run in spa mode for 20 minutes or so before switching to spillover mode? I'm thinking it would help filter anything...

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

I swapped the actuator circuits today and verified that they were right, so that's all good now. I think I may wait until the cold weather is gone to change the spillover mode thing if it's gonna put that much wear on the valves. Still thinking about it though.

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

Hmm, something to think about then. It's supposed to be pretty cold this weekend, and freeze protect was actually on this morning when I woke up. Although, I wouldn't think it would be any more wear than having spillover run a couple times every day anyway.

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

What about freeze protect? Will it cycle through everything to ensure all pipes are getting some flow?

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

Didn't get to do anything else today and I really don't feel like mucking with it in the dark. I did learn a little bit today though. Since I accidentally drained the spa I needed to put water back in. So, I saw the spa drain/fill section on the Aqualink page. Know that my stuff was wired...

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

I think I might see where to do this. I think it is in the light setup, so I will give this a shot later tonight. Will this screw anything else up, like spa mode or anything like that? I know it is not piped directly into the skimmer. Our pool build was finished in November and this water...

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

OK. I'm back to report that everything was a colossal failure. I relabelled Lights to Aux3 in the app. Turned the system off. Moved the wire in Aux3 to Aux4. Flipped the Aux3 dip switch. Turned the system back on. I now had an item labelled Spillover. I renamed Aux4 to Lights in the...

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

I think I have the RS8. I can go into "Label Aux" in the app and there are Aux1 through Aux7 plus Extra Aux. Aux1 - Booster Pump Aux2 - Air Blower Aux3 - Lights Nothing else has a label. I'm a techie who loves to tinker with stuff so I want to know how to run this stuff in the most efficient...

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

As usual, it's supposed to rain tomorrow, but I'll see if I can try this if it lets up for a while. Yes I have an Aqualink system. So, if I enable spillover mode then I should schedule the spa spillover to run independently of the pump? If I enable spillover mode, then when spillover is...

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

These are the best ones I have on my phone so it's the best I can do tonight. I can get some more pictures tomorrow. And you are correct on the 4 pipes in the previous picture. Single pipe on the left is air blower, then (L to R) spa drain, skimmers, pool drain. I have no idea which return...

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

From left to right on the 3 pipe configuration, it's either #2 or #3. I say that because #1 appears to be closed and the lone pipe by itself is the air blower for the spa. The check valve is supposed to prevent the basket from draining when I take off the lid? Literally every time I've taken...

Adding irrigation valve to use as fill valve

Don't even get me started on the freaking rain. We had drainage issues from our build anyway and then throw all this rain on top of it and our yard is literally a muddy mess. I heard today that it has rained 16 days this month and it's tied for the 20th wettest January in Atlanta in history...
