New CircuPool RJ60+ - Generate Light

Hi everyone - I'm on week 2 or 3 of my new CircuPool RJ60+. Been loving it so far. I have a question about the Generate light. Should I expect this light to be on the whole time that the SWG is running? I've gone back to look at it a few times randomly throughout the days and sometimes I go...

PH / Alkalinity creeping up - SWG pool

Hi everyone, I put in a SWG about 3 weeks ago. My TA at the time was around 120-130 and PH was 7.4. Since then it has risen to TA 140 and PH 8.0. I have read with SWG I need to bring the PH down every so often and it looks like my time is now. Is it best to add Muriatic Acid vs Ph decreaser...

    Exhaust smell from Heater

Hi @Kjp300 - I think I have exactly this problem with my Hayward heater. Actually just created another thread and then found this. Would you be able to direct me to how you cleaned yours out? Have a picture handy of where, etc?

Hayward heater - smells while running

Hi everyone - looking for some guidance with a Hayward Heater H150FDN that I have. The heater seems to run fine in terms of heating at a correct pace. My issue is the smell it has when running. The exhaust smells terrible and not just right next to it when it's running. I can smell it from...

    Chemical balance - new SWG

Just installed the Circupool SWG last night around 9pm. Chlorine looks to be generating properly as I let it run overnight. I started 4.5 FC last night when measured and woke up to 7.5 FC this morning. I’ll keep working to dial it in this week. My TA is between 130-140. And my PH is 7.8. I...

Thinking about SWG - high CYA issues

I’m probably not the best to fully answer your question as I’m new the a SWG, just turned it on yesterday actually. So far it’s great :) I installed the RJ60 and have a 27k vinyl pool. I can speak to the installation. If you’re comfortable with a little bit of wiring and plumbing, it’s really...

Now it clicked in my head, yes that makes sense :) thank you! I will do that as well.

Thinking about SWG - high CYA issues

Isn't that what you used to connect the flex tube in to the timer box? But for the SWG, there is not a hole I can notch out, it's just a cord already coming out with no place for a connector.

Thinking about SWG - high CYA issues

But what about entry in to the timer box? I have to punch the hole for it to go through, and there is obviously extra space then. If I add the flexible conduit, it solves the problem for the timer box. But it does not solve the problem for the SWG as it doesn't have a connection point for the...

Thinking about SWG - high CYA issues

I got the timer installed, thanks for the help! Next I want to wire the CircuPool RJ60+ to it. I’ll need to convert the SWG to 120 since I ran the timer to 120 from the box. I ran my wires through a flexible weather proof tube for the timer from the main box. I thought I should do something...

    Adding salt for initial setup

Great thanks! I have the Taylor 1766 test kit and the Circupool RJ 60+ just arrived today. So was planning to add salt tonight and let it disperse for 24 hours and then install the RJ60 tomorrow evening.

    Adding salt for initial setup

Any tips for adding salt to my pool for initial setup? I have 3 returns and 2 skimmers and no main drain. Deep end is 6 feet. Should I disperse evenly around the pool (it’s the granular kind and not pellets). And will I need to brush? And should I vacuum before adding? It’s pretty clean now with...

    Chemical check before SWG installation

Thanks @Richard320! So until the salt dissolved over 24 hours I should just keep an eye on the chlorine with liquid chlorine? And should I run the pump straight for 24 hours once the salt goes in?

    Chemical check before SWG installation

My Circupool RJ60+ will arrive tomorrow and I’m planning to install it. I wanted to put my latest chemical tests here and see if anything needs to be adjusted prior to installing. FC - 8 TA - 130 - 140 PH - 7.4 CYA - 70-80 Salt - 600 I think the TA is high but not sure how / if I should bring...

CYA - drain and refill - weird results

CYA - drain and refill - weird results

Great, thanks @Richard320! I have read on here the benefits of why I should have the CYA that high for SWG and it makes sense. My concern is if I ever need to SLAM. Do people with SWG run into issues there or it being a big pain?

CYA - drain and refill - weird results

Oh another question. Should I target CYA of 80 for saltwater then? The Chlorine / CYA chart shows 70 or 80 is ideal. Should I shoot for 70 in case there is error, or is 80 ok?

Ok good to know. I will retest it tomorrow morning and do the regular test to see what it shows. Thanks!

CYA - drain and refill - weird results

I didn’t let it warm up. I can do that tomorrow. The water temp is 60. Yes, the diluted test was seen pretty good at 40. I lost it at 30. So was thinking CYA is between 70-80. But the regular test I lost it between 100 and 80. So that showed higher it seems. I can test again tomorrow. But...

CYA - drain and refill - weird results

Hey everyone, I did a partial drain and refill over the last 2 days as my CYA was showing between 100 and 120 with the diluted sample test. I drained and refilled roughly 30%. My goal is to get to 70 or 80 as I’m converting to saltwater next week. After the refill today I waited 2 hours after...

Thinking about SWG - high CYA issues

Would I add the wires in to the outlet box and then run conduit to the timer? Basically in the outlet box, take the 2 wires in there and split, so I am getting the line / load from the breaker, run lines back to the outlet, and have new lines for the timer line and load? And I would be sure to...

Thinking about SWG - high CYA issues

Thanks @Hootz and @-MacGyver- Now you have me thinking more Hootz. I wasn't thinking clearly, and probably can just add another breaker to the panel right? Attached is my panel with the plate taken off so you can see. The pump is on the right and the outlet is on the left. I can put in a...

Thinking about SWG - high CYA issues

Thanks Sean - I think I will go with an Intermatic 240v timer. Any advice for how to wire this into an existing pool panel with 240v for the VS pump and 120v for an outlet?
  29. J

Thinking about SWG - high CYA issues

Also Hootz - do you have have 240v timer? Curious to know which I should get, 120v or 240v. There is 240v running to a panel by the pool equipment. In that panel is a 240v breaker for the VS pump. There is also a 120v breaker an outlet plug that that I use for my heater (needed for the...
