    High chlorine consumption, cloudy water

I ordered another kit yesterday. I'll continue to add 6-8 gallons of chlorine daily until I pass all 3 test. Thanks for the warning ;)

    Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate = dichlor?

I didn't take offense at anything anyone said. I just figure that most people would not like coping that is ground down, and brown from urethane spray. I'll post some pictures of the cracks and wear once we drain it again. I should also write an Intellibrite light review, as mine has seen...

    Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate = dichlor?

I'm in the very small minority here, but my pool has 2 purposes. We swim in it for the 3 months of summer we (sometimes) get here in Ohio. It's full of snow and ice for 2-3 months. The leftover time is spent skateboarding in the pool. I'm constantly worried about floating the pool, and...

    High chlorine consumption, cloudy water

I e been slamming the pool for 6 days. I've tried to maintain the FC at 31 as best I could, but sometimes I have to work. I've left my automatic cleaner in the pool except for when people were swimming. The CC never went above .5, and the FC drop gradually got lower, as it should. Last night...

    Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate = dichlor?

Planning ahead for next year- you say not to use bleach and cal-hypo at the same time. Could you please define same time, and how I old use these together? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    High chlorine consumption, cloudy water

I do realize the CYA is much too high. Those readings are current. I was using Tri Chlor pucks in the feeder all summer. When the water got cloudy, I decided to let them run out and only use liquid chlorine. I do understand Tri Chlor adds CYA.

    High chlorine consumption, cloudy water

Last year my water turned green, and I came here for help. You expertly guided me to clear water using the SLAM process. Well- I'm back. Our water has been cloudy, but not green. It gets a little more clear, and then a little more cloudy. We are in Ohio, and have had tons of rain this year...

    Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate = dichlor?

I'm struggling with low CH. I've added 75 pounds of calcium chloride already this year, so maybe I'll get some Cal-Hypo instead of all those gallons of bleach. I just played with the "effects" portion on the bottom of pool math. Good stuff. Thanks!

    Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate = dichlor?

Thanks for the heads up on Pool Math, and also on the Dichlor. I know we went through this last year, and due to the fact that I drain the pool annually, it is pretty easy for me to use Dichlor, and TriChlor pucks in the auto feeder. As I get close to the end of the season, nad my CYA gets...

    Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate = dichlor?

I bought a bucket of chlorine and what I got is labeled Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate granules. When I use http://www.thepoolcalculator.com, there are several drop downs. The one I'm using that looks the closest is Dichlor. There is not a percentage on the drop down, although the...

Night photos of our backyard peanut

Here is a photo I took recently after we had a swim party. The lights were glowing just right, and there was no wind.

Solar cover observation for those considering heating the pool

In the spirit of sharing our knowledge, I'd like to share my observations for those that are building a pool now or considering what equipment/products to use for their pool. Our pool is a 42,000 gallon, inground and it is new. We finished it late in the fall, and filled it with water May 31st...

    Hydrazzo finish question

I've got a Hydrazzo finish in a new pool that was completed 11 months ago. I notice that when I first take the solar cover off the pool, the water is very clear, but as we swim, it kicks up "dust" and clouds the water a little bit. Ever since the pool turned green in June, I've become a TFP...

New all glass tile IG pool build - Houston, TX

Nice looking pool! Getting it done in 3 months seems like that went pretty well, too- even though you waited on rock and a tile guy.

Best way to care for pool if draining annually

The reason we drain it is so that we can enjoy our pool for more than 3 months of the year. As far as getting water, unfortunately, we pay for that. Sam

Best way to care for pool if draining annually

30 years worth of experience is hard to argue with! I had a hunch it may be this easy for me, and I'm glad to see it worked for you. For the first couple of years, I will test more extensively to be sure CYA does not get too high, but these pucks might work very well for me.

Best way to care for pool if draining annually

I've got a 42,000 gallon in ground masonry pool that we drain annually. It holds water for 3 months, and that is all. This gives us an advantage on things like CYA levels. I'd like to hear some different ideas on what chemicals we should use so we could spend the least amount of money, and have...

Cloudy water, no chlorine, what next?

I'm still testing often, and adding chlorine as needed. I'm also brushing 2-3 times daily and using the Barracuda. The water is back to blue, and crystal clear. I can read the Barracuda labels in the 10' deep water! Overnight (about 11 hours), my FC dropped from 12 to 7.5. The night before, I...

Cloudy water, no chlorine, what next?

Making progress, thanks to all the help here. I only lost 2 ppm of FC overnight (14 to 12), and the water is blue and I can see about 5 feet deep, so it seems I'm getting there. Most of the foam from the surface is gone, but I still have some. Should I do anything with that, or will it...

Cloudy water, no chlorine, what next?

Up at the top of this thread, my TC was 0, my FC was 0, and my CYA was close to 10. Casey recommended I take the CYA to 30, and I used pool calculator to determine how much stabilizer I'd need. I went a little higher due to the fact that I get 12 hours of direct sunlight. 9 pounds of powder...

Cloudy water, no chlorine, what next?

Thanks for the info on the Barracuda, Kiss4afrog. Here is an update. I'm adding 9 pounds of stabilizer through the socks. I notice it is dissolving pretty quickly. I put 6 gallons of 7.86% bleach in this morning. 3 hours later, I did a FAS-DPD 3 hours later and my FC was 2.5, and my CC was 0...

Cloudy water, no chlorine, what next?

Late night study session for me keeps popping up more questions. Please be patient. 1. If I have 6 returns, should I hang 6 socks? Personally, I'm excited about hanging all my socks around our new pool :D 2. Do I need to get CYA to my desired number and stabilized before starting with the...
