    Pool Envy.....

Everytime I see the pictures of the beautiful pools many of you have, I feel a little green with envy.

So I dove into the shallow end. Warning Graphic Content.

I may show this to my kids because I keep telling them over and over it's not safe to jump in the pool. Sometimes a little fear is better than "momma says not to do it."

May have followed bad advice. Hard Water

We have very hard water here. I put salt in my pool to soften it but other than that I don't pay it much attention.

My first test results with the K2006. Is this OK?

I would think that the reason your eyes are irritated is that your PH is bordering on the low side. Someone back me up on this, please!

which is a better price for chlorine?

Albertson's had a sale a while back with 96 ounces of bleach for 99 cents. I bought 6 cases. :)

Finally received my TF-100, first numbers...

Don't worry about your CH since you have a vinyl pool. Raise your CYA and boost your FC. Otherwise I think your numbers look great!

New Home/Pool Owner - What did I buy?

With CC of 1 you'll need to shock the pool. Read Pool School to understand how to do it correctly. Your pool is very nice!

Welcome to the forum. You've found the right place. I found this site at the beggining of the season and turned my putrid green pool into a beautiful lagoon. I'm so glad that you went ahead and ordered the test kit. It's the essential item needed to fix your pool. You're going to love how...

Help! Soapy water ... Saltwater pool

I would highly, highly suggest you buy the recommended testing kit. The pool store gives you inaccurate information and the test strips are worthless. It's worth the 65 bucks to keep your pool clean and sanitized and with little ones their safety is your top priority.

OK, REALLY - you're adding Bleach on a DAILY basis ?

It typically takes me about 2-3 minutes every day to test my water and add bleach.

    I almost really messed up!

Make sure you enter your numbers in very carefully. :)

    I almost really messed up!

I went to adjust my CYA today from 45 to 50 because I'm going through 48 ounces of bleach a day and to hopefully make the fc last a little longer. Plugged my numbers into the pool calculator and it told me to add 53 ounces of dry stabilizer. In my mind I'm thinking this isn't right, but I went...

Ever think about moving, for a better swim season?

Well we opened in May and probably won't close until late October. We have lots of 90+ days and the worst thing that affects our pool is wind and dirt. Other than that I would say we have the ideal pool. :)

New Pool Easy Set 8' leveled by magazines

I think it would make an effective weed barrier. Not sure that it would really help level. And although it wouldn't be my first choice, swimming with the fishies might be ok. I mean people swim in lakes, rivers, streams and oceans all the time.

Try a butter knife on the spot. I had similar spots on my liner when I opened this spring and I manually had to remove them with a butter knife.

Slight green cloudy tint to water

If you follow the advice on this site, you'll never be a servant to a pool store again. :) Seriously, I completely, whole heartedly recommend without hesitation this site. You'll be more knowledgeable about what you put in your pool and you'll save enough money to buy the kids all the...

    Shocking and maintenance

I can typically get a way with every other day, but with the high temps as of late I'm adding every day. It certainly doesn't take long though. Five minutes of testing and another couple to add the bleach and I'm done. And five minutes of testing is what it takes me to test my ph, fc, cc and...

To shock or not to shock????

If the water looks great and you don't have CC of over .5, then skip the shock. I haven't shocked since I began and if I can get away with it, I'll never shock again. :)
