Personally, because I hate proprietary equipment and I believe the problem with intex is not only their pumps but their fittings, I would go with a name brand pump and filter. It makes it so easy to do aftermarket modifications.
I used my Taylor K-2006. Just added 51 oz of muriatic acid to lower my PH to approximately 7.0 per pool school calculator. I will test the fill water shortly.
Throughout this entire time I've been battling algae, my calcium hardness has been ridiculous. I figure I have at least replaced 50% of the pools volume with fresh water. I know we live in an area with hard water, but my calcium hardness doesn't seem to go down. So I'm thinking replacement is...
You are on the road to recovery. The first step is admitting that the pool store is out there to make money. The second step is to buy your own test kit. Once you get pool school figured out it all starts to feel elementary.
I live in the land of dust. Seriously, the wind blows here all the time. I have a Lil Shark and it does pretty well, but sometimes I still have fine dust. The pool store was trying to sell me a robot this year, but I think I'll keep what I have.
If I can recommend one thing it would be to buy your own test kit. Your pool store didn't give you a CYA which is directly related to how much chlorine your pool needs. Therefore you might have created overkill by adding the 4 lbs of CLC or it might not be enough. I know it seems like a huge...
My pool store is going out of business. Anyway, I was looking at their Taylor kits and they have they Taylor 2005c. It's about twice the size of the Taylor 2005. The original sticker on it was 200 but the guy said I could have it for 100. Is that a good deal? And how long do reagents last...
Your total chlorine can't be right. Total chlorine minus free chlorine= combined chlorine. 5-10=-5 and I don't believe you can have a -5CC. Also your cyanuric acid is 0 which mean your chlorine is disappearing rapidly.
SWG turn salt into chlorine. FC doesn't turn your hair green or burn the eyes. It's CC that burns the eyes. And it's metals that cause your hair to turn green. I hope I got that all right as I'm another newbie!
How big is the leak? Can you get it uncloudy before you lose all the water? You can drain Intex pools. They are seasonal pools and therefore are not quite the same as a regular liner. If you can get it clear enough to find where the leak is coming from you can patch it with water in it. If...
I opened to the worst black swamp ever this year. It was so murky I couldn't see past the surface. With the help of these guys, the proper test kit, and following the BBB my pool is in better shape than it has been in the past three years. I know it's easy to run to the pool store and them tell...
I made the mistake of leaving mine on over the winter and it decomposed. I don't know how many little blue dots I vacuumed out but it was toast. But they make a huge difference.
Thank you, Dave. I was beginning to go crazy thinking it looks like black algae it acts like black algae but it can't be. I can tell you that I was able to remove about 50% of it last night. So it looks like I'll be jumping back in tonight with the butter knife. And yes, the pool was neglected...
So I passed the OCLT night before last, but I still see algae on the floor of my pool. It won't scrub off with a nylon brush. Last night I got into the pool and with a butter knife scraped at some of the spots on the floor. They look black but when you get it to start coming up on the knife...
