Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

Started the SLAM last night. This morning the pool looks noticeably better - the algae is a much lighter green. FC : 13.5 CC: 1 I have also begun adding CYA. Here are day 1 and day 2 pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

I've got some of the Aqua Chem stabilizer which says to simply broadcast in the deep end. Is it ok to just do that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

Thanks for the info. I punched my info into PoolMath and it's saying to add 254oz of borax. Does that sound about right? I currently have one standard size box of borax on hand. Also, I did pick up some CYA yesterday and will likely plan to add that this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using...

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

Here is my latest update. Last evening I added some PH Down to try and get that level to the recommended range. Apparently, I overdid it because this morning the PH test is showing 6.8. What is the best way to adjust it back up? I have both baking soda and borax. Sent from my iPhone...

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

I did another test this morning and got same results as last night. I will be working on getting the pH down so I can start the SLAM process this weekend. I have used the Pool Math already and it is very helpful for playing with different scenarios. I have not purchased any CYA yet, but now...

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

Just had time to do 3 tests so far. PH - 8.2 FC -0 CYA - I filled the tube all the way and the dot never disappeared. What does that usually mean? May have some more time to test more later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

Test kit is scheduled to arrive today. Will do my initial test and post results. I am very interested in what my CYA level is. Due to my schedule the rest of the week and various after work commitments that have come up, I am likely going to wait and start the SLAM process on Friday evening...

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

10 day forecast calls for highs in the low 80s the rest of this week and low 70's next week. I guess the higher temps this week might be a point in favor of starting the SLAM asap due to the likelihood the higher temps will accelerate the algae growth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

We were told the pool is 30K gallons by the previous owner so have assumed that was the case. I had a couple other questions regarding the initial test(s) and the SLAM process. My water temp has been in the 50's lately. I guess I will need to get it to room temp before testing. Is that for...

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

When I check the CYA level, should I just use the pool water or will it need to be diluted with tap water? Also, I thought I read somewhere that I should run the pump for 30 mins before doing the test. Is this correct? My pool is getting greener by the day - can't wait for that test kit to...

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

I am getting a little antsy waiting for my test kit to arrive. As I watch the pool, the algae continues to get worse. Is there anything else I can be doing besides reading the pool school/SLAM articles on the site? BTW, I picked up 6 121 oz bottles of bleach today. How much more should I...

Green pool - Just getting started with BBB

My pool is starting to turn green and I am ready to begin BBB for the first time. My test kit is in the mail (TF100) and I will post results as soon as I can. It should arrive Tuesday based on the tracking info. In the meantime, I have read the pool school articles and all about the SLAM...

    Cleaning out pool after storm

Just wanted to update everyone on my progress cleaning out the debris after the storm. We've been working hard with the leaf rake and have also started running the Polaris and cleaning it out very regularly. Here is a before and after shot. Now that I finally have the debris out I want to try...

    Cleaning out pool after storm

Hello, My area was hit by a significant ice storm last week. We had lots of tree limbs fall in the yard and the bottom of the pool is pretty much covered with pine needles. It's way too much for the Polaris to pick up and I'm wondering about the best way to get it cleaned up. Thanks for...

    Hi from GA!

Hello all, I bought a home with a pool last year in Augusta, GA. I'm a first-time pool owner and barely survived my first summer being pool-stored. I am anxious to make a change for this coming summer and have been reading all the great articles on the Trouble Free Pool site. After the...
