New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little help

Re: New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little h Yeah that 4.04 earlier entry was supposed to be 4.0. Ok so from all that I've read on TFP if I maintain FC 3-5 and CC 0.5 (or lower) I'm good to go. So all in all my numbers are good. Yeah! Finally.

Re: New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little h OK well I finally got the LT-100 kit last night and I'm trying to get familiar with where to start. This kit looks a little daunting if you ask me. But the first problem I'm trying to understand is the Speed Stir came with it's own...

Re: New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little h I'm currently using this test kit. Re: New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little h I guess I did the right thing by adding acid then. See if I'm thinking right here. So when I added that 20oz. (little more than a cup) of acid this morning I did add it in front of a return jet and that will lower my pH some. My test...

Re: New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little h I know acid doesn't affect CH & CYA but my question was...I was wondering about adding my salt later today if that would. Ah yeah, I forgot about that lowering method. The acid/aeration process to lower TA: Add acid to lower your PH...

I was reading TFP's "Water Balance for SWGs" and...

I am certainly willing to learn and self test. I'm a very detailed person by nature. But this is what gets me confused. Now everywhere I've read here on TFP it says that my FC should be 3 -5 and my CYA should be 70 -80. Now Robbie just said that's going to create black algae. I don't get it.

Re: New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little h Yep I've read that AND a whole bunch more the past few days (lot of stuff to consume isn't it) and I know what my targets are supposed to be and am shooting for them now. Re: New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little h Would love any comments of where I am right now. Been very busy on the pool doing the things mentioned above. Won't get my TF-100 kit until Wed. so I can't run a FAS/DPD test yet. My numbers when I started: FCI - 1.48, TCL - 1.70...

Thanks Dan. Yes I have a thread in this same forum category that's been running now for about 3 or 4 days now & I've been very busy scouring this website to learn AND doing a lot of things to correct my problem and get my pool balanced correctly. I'm fixing to update that thread right now so...

    aerating the pool

Well I've been soaking in all this TFP information several hours a day which is fantastic and every now & then when adding chemicals or treating the pool for something, I see the term "then aerate" your pool. BUT it never says how to do that. Even in the definition of terms page that word isn't...

Is this the right kind of salt

Well, to be honest that's what I thought but as I'm learning and have made mistakes in the past I've learned it's better to ask first. I'm so glad I've found TFP I feel very confident that I have a family now that will help me get off training wheels and ride with confidence. Thank you.

I have another thread going right now about adjusting my pool chemistry and I'm in the mist of still doing that and ordered a TF-100 yesterday. New to the forum & a 1yr. old salt pool, need a little help

A little history Been keeping water testing records for my 1st year but readings were taken with strips and I know now that was a mistake, but with what I had I stayed in pretty good margins. I also went to the pool store for testing every couple of months. But I recently bought a ColorQ Pro-7...
