Need to replace pump motor: will it work with Intermatic timer? Other options?

Thanks for your reply - and especially the explicit answer! I think I'm understanding a bit more. Currently, my timer is only turning the pump on (I don't have any other equipment). That's where the power source is. I don't understand how the VGreen would get power if not connected to the...

Need to replace pump motor: will it work with Intermatic timer? Other options?

Thanks for the good review of the V-Green! Do you know if it'll work with an Intermatic automatic timer?

Need to replace pump motor: will it work with Intermatic timer? Other options?

The pump is still working/circulating water. However, it started leaking yesterday. As the motor housing is corroded, I was going to replace the entire motor (as opposed to changing out seals/gaskets, etc.) Apparently, some motor replacements cannot be shipped to California & am only seeing the...

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

Are there helpful articles, or preferable videos, on a drain & refill?

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

Once it starts refilling, do I wait until it's done to add chlorine? Or is it better to add some as there will be lots of algae left to treat? I couldn't find any write-ups about that

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

I should add - the plaster that's already gone happened long before the drain. I'm pretty sure it was a water chemistry issue

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

ok, I've sprayed it earlier & off of course the sun already dried it out. There are areas where the plaster is already coming up - especially on the steps

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

I just found that & edited it. also, the plaster is starting to bubble in a couple of small spots - should I panic yet? This drain & refill is nerve-wracking for sure.

Argh, I created a new thread because no one was answering this older one anymore. Can the title at least be changed??? This is a drain & refill, not a size question anymore

Catastrophically is not the word I wanted to read.... ack! I pan to refill as soon as I can get the majority of this grudge out.

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

I started draining my pool yesterday (except while I was sleeping) & it's getting close to empty. The algae is clinging to the plaster in some areas. How should I remove it? The remaining water is so green it's almost black. There's no way I'm getting in there. Should I hang over the side &...

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

I've resumed draining today & it's going faster. Before adding water back in, I want to change the main drain cover & light bulb. Are those straightforward enough to attempt on my own?

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

Yeah, it's going into the sewer. I'm keeping an eye on the water level & scooping out eaves as I can. Is there anything that'll help with the stuck-on algae parts? Should I clean it with anything more than water when it's done draining?

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

After a couple of out-of-town trips and purchasing the pump, the pool is finally draining - and I'm kind of freaking out! 4.5 hours later, I'd say it's about a foot/foot and a half drained. I'm sure tons of leaves/pine needles/debris are waiting for me at the bottom. And the plaster is ROUGH...

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

NEW PLAN: Since I'll be fixing this pool for my folks who don't ever want to use it again, I might as well get some enjoyment out of it myself! They are planning to sell, but not until the end of the year. In the meantime, I could be using it. The water is GROSS & who knows how old. I think I...

oh geez, I just realized you weren't asking how many gallons were in my pool. You were explaining that those topics are all related (forehead slap)

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

ah ok, makes sense. I'm actually not 100% sure of how many gallons. I started this post by asking for help with that, lol. It's an amoeba-shaped "sports" pool: Length: 35 ft Width at widest part: 15.5 ft Shallow on both ends: 3.5 ft Deep end in the middle: 6 ft

weird, my other post asking whether to DRAIN or SLAM seems to have merged into this one. Was that done by a moderator or something? Being new to TFP, I'm still figuring out how things work

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

OK, instead of adjusting pH, I'll add 5ppm of liquid chlorine a day until the test kit arrives. It would be a dream to have the pool removed!!!! Unfortunately, the cost is outrageous. My folks plan on selling by the end of the year, so I'm on deck to help them keep the pool in good working...

Drain & refill: algae was out of hand

Before adding 5ppm should I add a gallon or so of muriatic acid to bring the pH down? Also, no one will use the pool once it's brought back to life. It's my parent's pool & they aren't ever going to get in it again (their words, lol) I'm cleaning it up for them so mosquitos & others don't breed...
