Wiring SWG via a junction box

Ah, that's a good point, I hadn't thought of that!

Wiring SWG via a junction box

Is it kosher to install a weatherproof junction box between the timer and my pump and SWG? I ask because a lot of the tutorials I read say to pull another wire from the timer, but for some reason our timer is all the way around on the other side of the house. This article from Inyo says that...

    AquaChek Test Strip Sanity Check

My FC consumption is in the 2-3 range in the summer so I’ll raise CYA to just 60 and see what happens. You’re right, we have high fill water, I tested it once but don’t remember what it was. I’ll test again this weekend.

Ok great. Thanks. I went with the 40k HD Pureline from Inyo.

    AquaChek Test Strip Sanity Check

About to install a SWCG. I’ve been using 10% chlorine and muriatic acid exclusively since discovering TFP last year. I just tested the water to see where my salt levels are, and the peak of the yellow is 6.6 which translates to 3770 ppm. Does this sound possible? FC 6 CC 0 Ph 7.4 TA 80 CSI...

A Case for Not Wanting Blue in our Pools!

I just did a little Googling. I found another variant! Southwest Blue: Texas Blue: And, new to me, Florida Blue:

    Timer Tripper drift?

Loose screw is my bet too. In my experience these Intermatic timers keep very good time, for decades. The OCD in my hates that I cannot set the time EXACTLY though :) Welcome to TFP btw!

A Case for Not Wanting Blue in our Pools!

I’ve noticed this season that the Chlorox pucks around here are marketed as Southwest Blue or something like that, with Cacti on the packaging. Awfully deceptive and I would have fallen for it hook, line and sinker last year before I discovered TFP.

    What's your average bleach cost?

I have my CYA at 60. My pool is almost completely exposed to the AZ sun. I add 1/2 gallon of 10% nightly. This brings me from 6.5ppm back up to 9ppm.

    Bleach degridation

Here in AZ we have Fry's (Food, not Electronics!), which I believe is called Ralph's in CA. Some of the larger Fry's here sell Aqua-Tek 10% 1 Gallon 2 packs for $5.99 with your Fry's frequent shopper card. Works out to 2.34 cents per ounce, which is slightly less than the local HASA dealers here.

    Phoenix CYA Levels

I battled with 100+ CYA last summer, and finally got it down to 50 at pool opening this year. Question is, since I'm in the Valley of the Sun, should I be at 50 or raise it a bit to 60? I'm taking FC up to 8.0 each evening, losing 2.5 FC each day. Last night's test results: FC 5.5 CC 0 pH...

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Yup! I was bummed out when this went off sale last fall. Works out to be slightly cheaper per oz than the 12.5% refills that A&M Corsons has, and Fry’s has more convenient hours/location too.

    Your Daily Bleach Amount

What a timely post! Now that my CYA is under control at 50, I’m adding a lot less bleach than I did last summer. Sat night/Sun morning I performed an OCLT. Lost 1 FC overnight. By Sunday evening, I had lost another 1 FC, and that is with plenty of direct sunlight and a few hours of swimming...

    A TFP Success Story

Moved into this house 1/2017. First time pool owner and didn’t know any better, so we used tabs and a floater for most of last summer. Then I stumbled across TFP. As of yesterday our CYA is finally down to 50 from the 100 it was last summer. I guess all those times I vacuumed to waste finally...

    Mystery pipe and returns

A future pool cleaner? Like what type of device? Very interesting. I hadn’t thought of trying a snake down the pipe. I might give that a shot and see where it comes out.

    Mystery pipe and returns

Hi all, Bought the house in 1/2017. First time pool owner, stumbled upon TFP about halfway through last summer, threw out the tabs and I've been following the methodology ever since with great results: Anyway, now that the pool chemistry is in line and I have a routine, I'm taking a look at...

    Commercial sanitizers?

Where do pool guys get their liquid chlorine from? I notice pool company truck beds with the same big yellow milk carton looking thing, holding 4 bottles. Is that HASA chlorine?

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Yes they do. I've been taking advantage of this all summer long. Price goes through September or October if I'm not mistaken. Kem-Tek, exact same as Lowe's has, but cheaper and newer stock :)
