I battled with 100+ CYA last summer, and finally got it down to 50 at pool opening this year. Question is, since I'm in the Valley of the Sun, should I be at 50 or raise it a bit to 60? I'm taking FC up to 8.0 each evening, losing 2.5 FC each day.

Last night's test results:

FC 5.5
CC 0
pH 7.5
TA 90
CH 300
CYA 50 (Tested most recently this past Saturday)

If you are only losing 2.5 ppm FC per day, I would stay were you are.

Check your CYA monthly. It will degrade a bit in the summer here.

tm,

A lot of pool owners in Arizona run at higher CYA levels... The Key is not to keep your CYA at a specific level, but to make sure your FC and CYA maintain the right relationship.

I suggest that you bump your CYA up to 60 or 70 which should decrease you daily FC usage.. Just make sure you increase your FC per this chart.. [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]

Thanks for posting,
