    high filter pressure??

Just checking out your previous threads since you had been commenting on some I had been following. I saw where you mentioned not looking forward to getting rid of 325# of sand. If you do ever change the sand just remember it's just sand. You could use it for lots of things. Grow some carrots...

Neat tool for Deep cleaning sand filter

Great advice. Makes me want to find a clevererererer solution now. I used a similar tip when tunneling to install my pvc lines for our above ground pool.

Now that makes some sense about the pollen and maybe I'm seeing an algae bloom start. It's so easy to get sidetracked in these well meaning fourms. I'm mopping what you're spilling about cleaning the sand tank. Maybe I need to try that method again.

I totally get that you were joking about the sand being dirty. Not a problem. I mentioned it because I as expecting that backwashing would have cleared it up but I don't get any dirtiness in the sight glass even if I backwash two minutes. Maybe it is channeled. At the beginning of pool season...

Do you have deep cleaned documented anywhere on here? That was my attempt by cleaning every bit of it out of the barrel into the kiddie pool. Every bit of it was agitated with the hose water until the water ran clear. I returned the one year old and to the barrel and essentially the same...

Luckily I haven't had to deal with algae like that so far. I don't know what to make of my sand filter then. I don't know how it could not be functioning properly, it's only one year old. I completely emptied the contents of the barrel I to a small hard plastic kiddie pool and found that it...

With the DE it was from Home Depot and the brand was Pool Time. It was so fine like talc that it's not a suprise it came through the sand. I dont have any other experience with DE so I don't know what other particle size it comes in but wouldn't it need to be larger than the sand to stay...

Yeah that's a good idea actually.

So a filter sock could really speed this up then I would think. Filter sock in the skimmer basket would need to be constantly monitored at this point. I'm still confused with some people's suggestion about adding DE to the sand filter. Like I said in another post my results were awful. That's...

Because I don't have a timer for it, I don't have anyone to keep an eye on it, and while it generally runs 24hours a day, this would be the time something bad happens while I'm 7 hours away. It's the only option I had.

I haven't had issues like you have but a 12 on chlorine for as long as you have seems like you should be good by now. And if people say no it takes time then I'd logically think the slam method isn't the way to go. I'm on vacation in Virgina right now and our pump will have been off for four...

What do you mean by yes it goes to the water. The question was where does the waste water physically go when you vacuum to waste? Mine goes through a drain hose to the street.

Well don't spend the money on the plastic ladder yet, I'm just saying inspect the current ladder and then consider if you want to get a different one. I'm saying inspect the metal one for anything that could be making issues. Where does the water physically go? Just to the yard or....?

Just thinking a full round of testing as you would do to the pool water. Just put some city water in a known sanitized jar and use that as sample water to do chlorine, combined chlorine, pH, calc hardness, alk, whatever else. Just to rule it out. It seems to me this clear up has been a real pain...

I know you asked previously if you should remove the ladder. I wasn't paying attention that it was metal. I was thinking it was all plastic. Now I think you should take it out for thorough inspection and consider not using it if it's rusty. When you vacuum to waste, where does the waste water go?

Is all of your piping above ground? You mentioned water loss in a previous post, was that from vacuuming to waste? What's the source of the replacement water? You could test the replacement water before it goes in the pool to see what you're adding.

I tried pool DE in my pool with disastrous results. It went right through the filter and settled to the bottom of the pool. People will say there's something wrong with my sand filter but I don't think there is. I think the issue is there's two type of DE. One is a powder which is what I have...

You could try putting some other fabric similar to or a womans nylon stocking over the skimmer basket and see what you catch. Just keep an eye on it as it can clog quick. Have you checked the basket at the pump as well? Just occurred to me that there could be a bird, mouse, or anything in...

Sorry this is in three responses but I just tried to look up information on Rural King bleach. On their website there are reviews that say the label doesn't give any information other than 3% sodium hypochlorite. A few said it lacked any smell of chlorine. Im concerned that bleach has something...

To answer your question about the ladder, I would say no, unless there is organic material in it. Maybe you meant a 200 pound sand filter? Otherwise that thing is gargantuan. Good luck to you.

Well I was suggesting pictures of the products you used because sometimes people think they have the right item when they don't. I was speculating that maybe you have used splash less bleach or scented. You want just pure chlorine bleach which is sodium hypochlorite. The example pictures shows...

Well I don't want to lead you down another path that you may be following from another poster here. I think they all intend to offer solid advice. Have you done any vacuuming to waste yet? Maybe you don't know what that means at that point so I'll make a quick as possible explanation. I...

Curious: You must have a lot of organic material in your pool. Leaves, sticks, the neighbors cat, the neighbors grandmother? It's really important to get as much of the organics out before expecting great results. Is there a source of organic material falling in the pool? Is it pollen season...
