Excessive Chlorine Usage (5 to 6 ppm per day)

Since opening the pool (equipment was off, no cover), there has been excessive chlorine consumption. The pool was closed (no cover) over the winter. Opened and there were spots of green algae. Brushed, cleaned and brought chlorine to shock level. Water is very clear. Passed OCLT. But the...

    CYA Sense or Nonsense

How long did it take for the cya to dissolve? I bought the puritech brand and it has been hanging in a pillow cover in front of a return for the past 1.5 days and has barely dissolved. I did squeeze it quite a number of times as well.

    Planning a 2 week vacation

This is what we did. Added a couple of gallons to bring the level to 11 - 12 ppm. pH was at 7.6 and TA was at 80. CYA was 40. Loaded a floater with pucks and tossed it in. Loaded another floater with pucks and left it outside in a cover. Had a friend come after a week to toss that in the pool...

    High chlorine consumption (3 - 3.5 ppm a day)

Chlorine consumption is at 3.5 ppm a day. Water temperature is 68. Tested CYA. Dot visibile at 40. Gone at 30. I would say it was visibile around 35 as well. This is the test I hate :). So subjective. So should I keep it as 40 or 30? Should I increase the CYA?

    High chlorine consumption (3 - 3.5 ppm a day)

3-4 weeks ago it was 40. No significant water change since then, so I assume it is still at 40.

    High chlorine consumption (3 - 3.5 ppm a day)

Chlorine consumption is still high. 3 - 3.5 ppm on a daily basis. :( Chlorine is good this time. Water clear. OCLT passed. CYA 40. TA - 80 CH - 200 pH - 7.6 CC - 0.5 What should I check? So confused. Should I increase the CYA? It was 50 last year. Mid west particularly OK state folks...

    High chlorine consumption (3 - 3.5 ppm a day)

Please pour some thoughts on what adjustments need to be made to get the chlorine consumption to a normal range. Last year only in the peak summer there were few days at 3.5 ppm a day. Pool was closed (not covered) for 4 months. Opened it a week back, filled it few inches and shocked the pool...

Closing pool - spa water level with no cover

We decided to winterize the pool (no cover) this year. Had someone come do it since we are not familiar with the procedure. We lowered the water below the skimmer for the pool and spa. This is the amount of water left in the spa after draining. Should we add more water? Do we need to add any...

    Closing question in Oklahoma

Hello, Folks in Oklahoma, please chime in and help. This is the first year we are thinking of closing. We want to leave the pool uncovered, but winterize. Few say they recommend blowing out the lines, while few say they do not blow the lines. Do you blow out the lines? Do you cover the pool...
