    Adding bleach

After reading some older posts I see that most people are testing and adding bleach in the evening after the sun goes down. I have been doing it in the am before the sun really gets on the pool. I work nights so this really isn't an option unless I want to fumble around out there after dark...

Where should my CYA level be?

Right now it's at 40, and by what I've read, that should be ok. I'm adding 1/2 to 1 full 187oz bottle of bleach at least every day. Should I have higher CYA levels because of the full sun (8am-7PM) My pool is blasted by full sun all day and the temp got up to 94 last Sunday. I plumbed up an...

    why bury an AGP?

I'm already into my AGP for almost 15k including the pool, accessories, excavating, sand, water, reseeding, decking, not including any landscaping. I had to go the AGP route because of the serious slope of my yard, and found one that could be installed as an AGP, on ground (semi inground), or...

    What's going on????

Thanks you two. Yes I have read Pool School, actually numerous times. I'm more of a hands on learner than a reading learner. Could be that "School of Hard Knocks" that I've gotten so used to over the years! :hammer: Will do the loss test over the weekend, and continue to religiously (and...

    What's going on????

Ok, I've been testing my water daily....here's what I've learned since the initial fill. Using the auto chlorinator and adjusting daily to find that sweet spot, my FC and TC have climbed and have stayed anywhere between 6-12ppm, my CC is still at 0. My friends that own pools say that I must...

    Slightly Confused

I figured it was too big. I'm not sure why pool manufacturers think bigger is better. I'm thinking of cutting in another return this winter, to help get that water moving. All that HP and only one return, kind of dumb if ya ask me!!!

    Well......here's the results

OH YEAH!!!! It's a really pretty bright shade of yellow (TC)! Unfortunately they don't sell a test kit that will register that high! LOL! 5 was at the top of the scale so that's where that figure came from, I'm thinking 7 sounds more like it and is why the AC is now turned off. Hoping use...

    Slightly Confused

Ok so my Hayward pump spec plate shows 70 GPM, my sand filter literature shows "design flow rate 67 GPM", and it's hard piped with 1 1/2" Sch40 PVC, which according to Hayward has a "maximum recommended system flow rate of 45 GPM". Someone please decipher all this for me, since it appears...

    Well......here's the results

The TF-100 was awaiting my arrival home from work. That was some fast shipping,....thanks again Dave for everything...you rock!! Here's a brief background before the results. Pool was filled last Thursday, tossed in a floater with three 3" pucks to ward off the creepy crawlies, pump...

    Hard Piping AGP w/ light

Hard piped my plumbing and ran into the same issue with the same light/return setup. Good idea (wished I came up with it) =0) will try the fernco after draining and winterizing.

    Agggghhhhh!

Well in my haste to beat the onslaught of severe weather we've been getting hammered with on a daily basis and get my filtration system hooked up. I installed the check valve (back flow preventer) AFTER the auto chlorinator. Between the AC and the return fitting. I now realize that I...

    No Filter

Thanks Alice. I waded through the muck and heat today and got y filter plumbed in, just giving the glue enough time to dry, and hoping the rain will hold off long enough to let me fire this thing up!

    No Filter

Thank you for the quick reply Richard. I have a little smarts! LOL. I worked as a service technician for a national spa company for almost 5 years, so I'm a little better off than a lot of other noobs. I figured moving and chlorinated water would help keep the creepy crawlers out better than...

    No Filter

Ok here's my dilemma. I installed and had my pool filled 4 days ago (12 X 26 EZ Panel Pool, installed mostly inground). I temporarily hooked up the pump only (NO Filter) to circulate the water (big mosquito problem around here) and tossed in a floater with 3-3" tabs. Well today while waiting...
