    iAqualink cloud outage?

Our connection dropped yesterday at some point. Local/manual controls are fine but I can’t connect via the App or Web. I suspect it’s another server outage on their side...

Narrowing down PebbleTec color from 4

Excellent point ^^^. The Midnight Blue does great with the entire range of our color LED's with the exception of red (our PB warned us ahead of time that red doesn't show well except on light finishes).

Narrowing down PebbleTec color from 4

I'd go check out as many colors as you can... and keep in mind that it'll probably look different in your backyard. We looked at some of the colors on your list (Tahoe Blue in particular) but ended up going with Midnight Blue. IMO, it's got a better color depth to it with plenty of dark blues...

    New Build in NE FL

Yup, a "full Mansard" is where the enclosure attaches to the house then goes "up" to the horizontal screened surface before coming back down at the rear of the enclosure. A "half Mansard" is where the horizontal screened surface attaches directly to the home and extends horizontally before...

Fleming Island Fl- New Free Form Pool Build

Oh, that puts you pretty close to our new build also. We're off CR210 in South Hampton. I'm sure Christine (MotherShipp) would be fine with you taking a look at our build if it helps at all. :)

    Interior Finish Disclosure

Our PB had anecdotal stories of fire trucks accidentally blowing off sections of the finish. Apparently that's the reason it's no longer done in my area. Sounds like a possibility but I'm not 100% sure that it's the truth. As to the form, it sounds like CYA legalese that the builder, finish...

I don't care what they say... that water is cold. The wall was really designed as a way to keep from having a slope/grade off the back of the enclosure. The yard naturally drops away ~8" over the depth of the structure vs the original concrete patio. Add to that another ~1.5" for the...

Sooooo... I have a whole bunch of timelapse stuff to finish compiling and post. In the meantime, some pics and updates: Last weekend we took some pavers we had from a previous deck that I'd done and used them to build a wall. To maintain some level of continuity, we used extra "thins" from...

New Pool - Gunite - Holes in bottom of the shell

Yup, weep holes are needed anywhere the water level is higher than the bottom of the pool. Having said that, the shell should be ~4 times as thick as the 2" measurement you mentioned. Are you sure that's the thickness of the shell and maybe it's not just that dirt has built up in the weep hole...

    need help picking a contractor

Serious question: Does it matter? Either he dropped it because of the cost (not getting enough business to make paying for it worthwhile) or maybe it got pulled due to code violations or complaints. Regardless of the reason, and even if he had a license, you've still got the same risk with him...

    New Build in NE FL

My wife (MotherShipp) chimed in earlier but a couple additional comments/suggestions/ideas from my side: #1- the 3' walkway along the back of the pool was something we kicked around and eventually nixed. 3' is enough to navigate but, when it's the length of the pool and bordered by a screen...

Minor setback... the finishers ran late on another job and couldn't get out yesterday. If they'd come today, that would've pushed back the final acid wash and fill to next week. Our PB (and I believe PebbleTec) require the pool to be filled with ~48 hours of interior finishing, the decision...

    need help picking a contractor

IMO, this comes down to risk appetite. Are the savings sufficient enough to offset the potential downside risk of having significant repairs to the pool? If it's my money, I'd go with someone licensed and insured so that I know the project is covered in the event that he floats the pool or...

Yup, we'll see what they supply. IIRC, it's a decent (but basic) kit. Tofay was the initial acid wash and clean out. Pool Acid Wash - YouTube Also got the "toe tile" for the steps installed today: Finish should be going on tomorrow, another acid wash Fri, and then the fill...

Ooooof... more bad news, lol. Looks like the clean-out won't happen until tomorrow. That still puts us on track to start the fill this week though. The PB does 30 days of maintenance (vacuum, chemicals, etc) but it looks like the test kit delivery confirmation has it getting here Thursday so...

Yep, the vertical covering on the riser is paver. If you're looking to blend pavers into tile (like we did), the installer can also grind off part of the backside of paver and/or part of the beam to get things to line up appropriately. If you don't "need" thins for the rest of your build, I'd...

Agreed, I wasn't sure if they were going to need to fab a vertical screen wall there or how they were going to work that piece of the design. Talking it through with the enclosure team, we worked out what you see in the pics. Their basic design wa almost exactly what made sense to me with only...

Ideas for adding pool overflow mid-build

One of our friends in the neighborhood has a gravity overflow like you describe. The PB used a small grate (2"x3") set into the top of the waterline tile that feeds to a PVC pipe and out of their enclosure. In talking it through with them, it appears that it's come in handy during summer...

The regular pavers are 60mm thick (IIRC) but a portion of the deck where we had an existing concrete slab uses their "thins" that are 30mm thick. The risers and other vertical paver areas also use the thins to keep from having as much material coming off the wall. For the section you're...

how hard is it to add pool lights?

Having watched our PB install nicheless lights in our new build, it seems like adding them to a remodel would be relatively straightforward. I'm assuming they'd use a core saw/bit of some sort to drill through the shell, run a sleeve, bond the sleeve to the shell, and then run conduit from the...

He was reasonably adult about it. I feel like the fix got dragged out as long as he could get away with putting it off but, ultimately, it got fixed. If the build had been stalled for 4-5 weeks, I'd be so far up the PB's rectum that he'd mistake me for his proctologist.

Yup, the sub spent several half-days trying to chip/hammer out enough of the footer to get the wood out. Ultimately, he punted on it when it became obvious that the crack wasn't a surface or minor stress crack and, instead, went through/around the entire pour. From that point it took another 1.5...

    Alternative to spa???

Geosage, I agree about the possibility of a swim out with jets but make it a bit larger so all our kids can really sit and enjoy it. We weren't certain how much a pool would cost and our original budget has been stretched for the spa. That's pretty normal, huh??? We've never had a spa so I'm...
